It was hard. Like a lot of movies, it had potential, but didn't live up to it. Think overused Hallmark plot but with profanity, sexual content, occasional juvenile behavior, and fart jokes. (There's a good reason it's rated R. Many reasons, actually.) It did have its funny/wholesome moments but they were far and in between and mostly happened towards the end. The main characters had somewhat decent arcs and you could tell the Hannah character really did want to do better and do good by her friends. The movie wasn't exactly a failure but it could have done better.
I can't say that I didn't enjoy the movie. Premise of a household ghost only visible to one person and trains her to be "My Fair Lady" makes a good premise for eliciting laughter if done right. But this movie feels as if it is made for TV. Melanie Lynskey is awesome. She fills life to this otherwise normal movie. And Judy Greer did her part. Not that this movie is bad, but could've done better.
Anyways I had fun watching it.
Is the movie lame? Yes.
Did I enjoy the movie? Doubtfully yes. You can enjoy it as well if you can go through the first 20-25 mins of nonsense.
Do I recommend it? Yes, you might enjoy in parts.

My wife and I settled in to watch this movie, written by Justin Long and his brother Christian, on Amazon streaming movies. It is clear why this is available so soon on streaming. But after a rocky start it develops into a funny, entertaining farce. No one would term this a "great" movie but if the explicit foul language here and there doesn't bother you then it is a fun romp.
Slacker lady is not a drug dealer, she just makes deliveries after someone else deals. But she isn't even good at that and gets busted when delivering, on bicycle, to the wrong address. But she gets an unexpected opportunity, to work as a guide through a historical home in Savannah (filmed in Florida). To her surprise the real Lady of the manor comes to her as a ghost from the 1800s.
We should have rebuffed this movie, we should have turned it off after about 20 or 25 minutes. But we didn't and laughed often. Just a fluff of an entertaining farce. The outtakes shown as part of the end credits are some of the funniest of the whole movie. A solid "6" of 10.

This movie is really intriguing.
On one hand, it has great performances from seasoned actors like Melanie Lynskey that has great comedic timing since Two and an Half Men, and Justin Long and Judy Greer that are always great.
It also has laugh out loud moments and a very classic and endearing plot.
But on the other hand, the production values are at amateur level. The sound, photography and costumes look like taken from a school production.
The editing lacks pace, and the script is not tight enough and it falters several times.
I have no idea how this movie was produced, but it could have been absolutely great given a few more script revisions, more production values and a much better crew behind the camera.
As is, it is a good time. And if after watching the trailer you have dismissed it as a low budget misfire, I recommend you to give it a chance. The end result is much better than anyone could have expected from the promotional material.

This movie was a VERY SILLY and Goofy story, but I love Melanie, Judy, Justin and all the rest of this cast together. They are just Silly Fun together and seems like they probably had a great time working on this movie.
Judy did slip out of her Southern accent quite a bit, but I didn't care, she was adorable. And Melanie was just hilarious as a slacker trying to learn to be a lady. :D Is it Oscar worthy? NO! Is it for young kids? NO! (Has a lot of F-bombs) But is it stupid funny and worth a watch? Yes, if you like silly comedies. And/or are a fan of Melanie, Judy or Justin. :)
