After an emergency call to save her addict mother, Claire, 9 years old, is taken by social services. She quickly ends up with the only relative she has left: her grand-mother Pauline, who lives in a seniors' residence.

Claire is getting familiar with the other tenants. While her grand-mother is out visiting her husband, Claire decides to leave the apartment.

It's Claire's birthday and she is getting a surprise.

Claire tries to cheer up her grand-mother. Claire's mother comes to visit them.

Claire and Pauline receive bad news.

Claire invites a friend over. But her social worker interrupts this day to tell Claire that social services found a new family for her.
