This is actually the worst movie I have ever seen.

It's terrible. Just really, really bad. Terrible script, terrible lighting, terrible audio, terrible cinematography. Everything is just so, so bad.

My dog is a better actor

This movie had such a solid storyline, but the set flaws, rigid lines & acting that couldn't satisfy a role play at a work function.

The story had so much promise. I gave it a 3 simply because of the solid baseline story. The execution is a 1...barely.

Low budget can still be done with a bit of set design & direction. This movie didn't even try, using fake trees in half of the sets & clothing/props that didn't exist in 1993. The soundtrack is annoying. The blocking was so weird...people conversing awkwardly less than 2 ft apart & no emotion or expression.

If they would have looked around Iowa for actors they would have found better leads. Most of the actors recite lines like a 12 year old reading a school play script for the 1st time. No character envelopmemt at all. I could literally find half a dozen friends to fill these roles with powerful characters & some feeling behind each scene. Sad. Sad because some former players would.probably love to see this movie to have done better.

Whoever did casting & accepted the acting as finished product should not be doing movies professionally.

    So bad its almost funny.

So bad an attempt at a movie, and telling a story, that its almost funny. And if it was a parody it would be all the way funny. But unfortunately, it's not. But it is truly Pathetic. I watched with my sister in-law, who was on one of the most acclaimed 6 on 6 teams ever in Oklahoma. They went 28-0 in their championship year. We were anticipating seeing either a historical film telling what was special of the lost but great competitive game of 6 0n 6 basketball, and/or perhaps a really good movie or story to go with it. This movie was none of the above. I would rate it a ZERO if I could. The acting is bad, the production is terrible, the script is predictably awful, and the whole package is quite unbelievably poor. I has no creativity, artistry, nor chemistry. To say that a most student film projects would be a better watch than this, would be an insult to student films. Do yourself a favor and skip this.

    Terrible movie

I couldn't agree more with markusfocus! I had to turn it off! I played 6 on 6 in the exact area the movie takes place in AND the lead basketball player is from my hometown in that same county! So, you see, I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't watch more than 30 minutes. The only things that they did a good job on was the landscape scenes and the 1st gym you see them play a game in. I say the 1st gym because that is as far as I got so I can't evaluate the others. Like Hoosiers with real people

I enjoyed New Providence. Like Hoosiers, except with real people, with women's basketball, and in Iowa. It was like being in New Providence IA, in 1993. The shots outside and inside the Roundhouse gym were beautiful. The basketball players were actual high school and college players, the spectators were local extras that looked and moved like actual spectators. The script was mostly like listening to real people talk. The score fit. Regional theatrical talent was used to fill in the cast - Teresa's mom, Laney's dad and it worked well enough to move things along. I had heard of 6 on 6, my mother played in CA high school ball. The movie smoothly got the gist of the rules and play across and showed well executed plays. The sets and wardrobe fit the time and place, the cafe and hardware store looked appropriately small town and accurate. Coach Teresa's track suit, straight out of 1993 and I loved it. Jimmy Voss consulting a map while finding his way to New Providence - before smart phones.

Taste is, well, a matter of taste and I realize a 9 star review is against the grain for this movie. I totally respect the other reviews, and am happy to add mine.
