Could not get to the end of the movie.
I don't know what's worse. The bad acting or the stereotypical writing. Bautista is definitely not a lead actor sorry.
This is like the other movie he did where they had to steal stuff in a team with Ryan Reynolds. Now that's a better movie. Mr Tista should stick to GOTG. Dwayne better, even John cena better in wrestling-acting crossover.

The only afterburn is in your brain as you try to keep up with the movie's logic.

Afterburn is a new thriller directed by J. J. Perry. This is the first film he has directed, although he previously worked as an assistant director on films such as Blue Beetle and several Fast & Furious movies.
Ten years after a solar flare severely damaged the Earth, the world has changed drastically. Most technologies no longer function, and humanity seems to have reverted to a more primitive state. Treasure hunter Jake (Dave Bautista) is tasked with retrieving the Mona Lisa for King Arthur (Samuel L. Jackson). During his quest, he receives help from Drea (Olga Kurylenko), who knows the area well and is aware that others are also searching for the Mona Lisa.
This is only J. J. Perry's third film, and the story is written by four different writers, two of whom are debuting. It's unfortunately evident in the film that this is the first real work for most of them. Perhaps some of them could have used some assistance before releasing this film.
The story is poorly conceived and executed, making it difficult to follow everything in a believable way. It is also written quite simply, which makes the events predictable. As a result, the tension quickly dissipates, making it challenging to stay engaged with the film.
The visual effects are also unconvincing; it is often clear that smoke and explosions were added later with CGI. Additionally, the makeup for gunshot wounds and bleeding does not look convincing and appears more like face paint or makeup rather than real blood.
The acting, like the rest of the film, is not very strong or convincing. Due to the weakly developed script, the characters frequently make illogical choices, which causes the film itself to feel unbelievable.

Not that bad
This movie was not that bad. True,no awards will be handed out for great acting, but it was an enjoyable watch. I am not the biggest fan of Bautista ,but he did a good job doing what he does. If you're a Samuel Jackson fan, he has a small part in the movie. I like watching Olga kurylenko, this is not her best work, but again it was not that bad of a movie, certainly not a 1 star,2 star or 3 star rating. I give it a 6 star rating, it's worth a one time watch.
I can't believe I didn't walk out
Im feeling the afterburn of regrets for seeing this movie. The entire theater outside of me and two women, left sometime before the hallway point. I'm honestly super jealous of them now. That was a hard movie to watch. I was feeling it at the beginning but that was short-lived lived. Do yourself a favor and skip this bull. I actually enjoy watching Dave Bautista, weirdly enough. I say weirdly, because the last few movies with him that I watched just absolutely sucked. The screen writing with the movies he is in, needs help. Do this actor some justice. Please!

Average action movie
Pretty average action post apocalyptic movie, with well known actors, who did lazy job except Bautista and Samuel L. Jackson. Story is predictable, scrip it's also very poorly done, there's no character development. It's good to watch when your stoned Couse there's nothing important to remember or pay attention to, only the things happening with few action scenes.
Did you know
- TriviaNicolas Cage was in talks to join the project.
- GoofsThe movie's opening sequence shows lights going out across Europe, presumably as the electrical grid is taken down by the solar flare... but as it's on the night side, the Western hemisphere would be protected from the effects of the flare, which typically only last a few minutes.
