Actor Maksym Nesterenko, who for many years played cops in various TV shows, loses his job, and series misfortunes happens to him in his personal life. He owes one serious man quite a lot of money but can't pay it back in time. To solve this problem, he agrees to complete a task from this man, but he can't even imagine what's waiting for him.

By pure accident, Maksym finds himself working as a policeman. His experience of portraying cops in the TV shows helps him to successfully integrate in his new surrounding. In his work, he uses no standard approaches trying to apply his actor's skills in his investigations, which impresses and alerts his new colleagues. Can Maksym take the other cop's place without a risk of being unmasked and can he show his best qualities in investigating his first true crime?

Maksym's knowledge and experience allow him to solve difficult cases, and he skillfully uses his actor's talent in catching real criminals. Besides, he feels perfectly when people pretend and lie. But will all these help him in further investigations? What if his colleagues, seeing his nonstandard approaches, suspect something? The "serious man" hires an assassin to solve his problem and find Nesterenko, but can he do it?

Maksym can't always find the right answers in his investigations, which brings them to a halt. Can he learn to act like a real cop using facts and actual data? The assassin traces Maksym and learns he's playing a double game pretending to be the late officer Lemeshev. In finding the necessary information, the killer uses his own methods. Can Nesterenko-Lemeshev find the way out save his life?

Now Maksym has another influential enemy - the mistress of the town Inga, with whom he thoughtlessly slept at the beginning of his work at the police and who's not going to let him go that easily. Thus, in his next investigation he acts highly unprofessionally as emotions overwhelm him - How will the investigation go, and will his colleague Nastya notice his failure?

Working on an extraordinary case, Maksym, using his charm and ability to communicate with people, gives a good start to the investigation, and his analytical mind helps him to find a trace where no one of his fellow cops would look. The liking between Maksym and Nastya keeps growing. How will this end up and how will the other members of their group react to their affair?

Maksym meets Nastya's father. The man approves of her choice but tells her that Maksym is not a cop but an actor. Nastya doesn't know what to do - Trying to return Maksym, Inga sets up Nastya, and she's accused of the official malfeasance. If Max agrees to Inga's conditions, Nastya will be saved from prison. Will he do it to save his colleague? Maksym finds a mole at the police station. Can he unmask him?

Maksym has a sincere talk with the mole. Will the man tell him why he was going to kill Lemeshev, whose place Max accidentally took, and for what Inga paid him? Will the mole finish what he started and kill Maksym? How is the package Max was delivering connected with Inga, the man who Maksym owes and the mole? Will Maksym confess to Nastya who he really is and tell her of his situation? Will he return his real name or will he stay officer Lemeshev forever? What's waiting for the main characters in the end?
