I appreciate the effort to bring out the Black Lives Matter movement. If you are doing a show about racial issues you can't gloss over BLM. The acting did not do justice to the importance of the subject. It sounded like a grade school skit.
I commend "The Neighborhood" for focusing on real world events. Yes, it may not have been as funny as other episodes, but the subject is more than appropriate. The message should be delivered anywhere possible. Our current concerns remind me of real-life issues that were addressed on other highly-regarded comedies, including "All In the Family", "Maude", and "The Golden Girls".
After reading negative reviews, I watched this episode for a second time. The last five minutes, with the father and son discussion, are especially pertinent. You will not laugh, but hopefully, you may think about inequality.
This episode reran this evening, Nov. 29. For me, watching it a 3rd time reinforces my earlier perspective that everything about this episode was on target with the very real racial inequality that continues today. It is a concern for everyone in the community, regardless of their race, gender, wealth, etc.
I am glad this serious topic was addressed in a comedy. If inequality is covered only in dramas, the message would not get to as many people.

Since the he show is set in LA, I don't understand why people are upset they are taking about racial profiling. It's amazing they have gone this long without talking about it. For them to not talk about it with the current event, would be very unrealistic.
Although, I thought Gemma's "realization" of why some police beat up black people and her quick answer to her son Grover was a bit jarring.
However, The scene between Calvin and Dave in the truck was hopefully educational for many. The scene between Calvin and his son Malcolm on the street was very touching and stated the words that many people of color, especially blacks have felt for decades.
Overall, I thought the episode did a great job of balancing real world events with real emotion and provide a bit of levity.

I thought this was a great show until I watched this episode. I had to stop watching this halfway through found it to be done in poor taste. Let's hope this series goes away from picking sides and goes back to good comedy.
I'm actually proud of this episode for not being afraid to shed some light in serious issues in the world. The plot was decent, and it had a great message and emotion. It seems unrealistic at times , but in all a good episode.

Dave Johnson: I can't believe this is happening.
Calvin Butler: Well, what'd you expect? You arm the police like they're going to war, and that's exactly what they're gonna do.
