The storyline felt bit simplistic since much of it revolved only around parent-daughter relationship. That wasn't the problem though. What kept me from giving this show high ratings was the pace. Around 70% of the first season was filler. Season 2 however was much more interesting and enjoyable. Of course, not at the same level as the original Inuyasha series but that's quite understandable.
I would say this is a must-watch for the Inuyasha fans. However, you will have to keep waiting for the screentime of your favorite characters.
The very first opening song New Era from Sixtones used to be at the top of my playlist around a year ago.

Its a direct continuation from what was left on the last episode of the inuyasha final act series but focusing on different characters that are the childrens of the original characters. Its like using the already established world from the inuyasha series but the main focus shift onto their respective future generations. I dont feel comfortable knowing that rin ended up becoming seshoumarus wife lol, she was still a kid. Saw Koga just briefly for a moment with no dialogues and it was a bit confusing to follow the storyline and keeping up with the sudden changes.
Tbh i was worried with the way the storyline progressed that was very much alike the inuyasha series. But things gotten better later on, so be patience. Instead of Shikon Jewels the focus changed to a new antique known as Rainbow pearls (weaker in power compared to Shikon Jewel but grants variety of abilities original to each pearls). All the three main characters in this series were 'boyish' girls that have their own subplots to the main storyline (same formula as in the inuyasha series). The execution of the storyline was a bit messy and rushed. Many plot holes as always.
Unlike the original run, this sequel took time travel and its consequences very seriously. The quality of the animation tremendously improved. All the original characters appeared, some are recurring characters for this sequel and almost all the original voice casts returned for this project. Loving the interaction between the new characters and the old characters. Sound scores were very original to the earliest season of the inuyasha series - very classic & nostalgic.
All the intro and outro songs were okay. Not something that i would watch again but still highly recommended.

The anime's dub cast(s) are stationed at Bang Zoom! in Los Angeles, California and Ocean Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia while some of the cast members from the first anime returned (including Kaye who does shows for both countries) Viz Media somehow found the funds to but in American cast members, there's no doubt the voice director Jalen K. Cassell has to Skype Ocean Studios to talk Cox, Tozer, Sheridan, Micheals and Morrow and plenty of the original characters will return with their respective dub actors.
Inuyasha was one of my favorites growing up. At first I will confess I was disappointed with the sequel but season 2 has helped cure that by bringing all the original characters back into play. As for the people complaining about the union between sesshomaru and Rin I'll say this I don't mind. And here is why; sesshomaru was the only one who loved and protected her from everything after her parents were killed aside from inuyasha's bunch occasionally. #2 Rin was the only person who really showed any tenderness and compassion toward him. I mean the only other two women that cared for him died. 3 and a lot of people need to understand this inuyasha and yashahime are both set in a time period 500 years prior to present day and he did wait until she was of legal age they could've made it much worse. For a story that's supposed to be about feudal Japan and things that happen 500 years ago it accurate in marriage laws. This show got off to a rough start but it has definitely gotten better. But If the SESS/RIN family doesn't get the same heart felt reunion kagome inuyasha and Moroha got I will never watch either series again!!!!
This is an amazing sequel to the original series And I want them to continue this series. Also, I like this sequel series so much!!
