The images you see in this films will probably not be ones you are familiar with regarding Afghanistan: you will see Afghan women, all shapes and sizes and ages and hair colors, speaking for themselves, and running their own businesses. You will see an Afghan man talking about how proud he is to be a "deputy" to his wife in their business together. You will see an Afghan woman tell a delightfully off-color joke. You will also see the challenges faced by nonprofits working in Afghanistan. Filmed in 2005, when Afghanistan was on the upswing, it is a documentary full of hope, without being unrealistically hopeful. The film makers deserve kudos for putting Afghan women so front-and-center, and for providing glimpses into their daily lives that even many aid workers in Afghanistan never get to see. Expect to have some of your ideas about Afghanistan and its women challenged by this documentary. But, at the same time, expect to hear many of the problems about Afghanistan you are used to hearing: forced marriage, violence, and poverty.
