Yes...right where it should be. Back to the single episode story telling.
The characters are compelling and the actors earned their pay.
Lets see how it goes. I was well pleased.

What can i say, at the end of the episode i realised this was a very good episode, with great effects, a great intro, a great story, great costumes and what it is more important, this something which really looks like a good old fashioned Star Trek series.
So this is a perfect show. I wasn't really looking forward to this, after the downward turn of Discovery. I was wrong, I was wrong!
Basically all the integrity of TNG with the explorers spirit of ToS. You might have to get over the fact things aren't exactly as you know them from the broken... disjointed timeline that has been cobbled together over a 50 year period in a way that was never intended. I did.
Watch it. Love it. Thank me later.

I've adored Jeffrey Hunt's Capt. Pike my entire life, and every iteration of Pike since. Anson Mount is brilliant in pretty much everything (he did not get enough credit for Black Bolt). I new I wanted this series while watching Discovery, but I didn't know that withing the first minute and forty-five seconds I'd be out-of-my-mind thrilled. THIS SERIES IS A MUST SEE FOR EVERY FAN OF TOS, TNG, and the Pike/Kirk era's. And Rebecca's #1 does full tribute to Majel. If Season 1 ends with Kirk being introduced to Pike and Spock I'll have a heart attack. PS: Bring on the Michelle Yeoh Section 31 Series *makes gimme hands*
This is a great opening episode. A true return to Star Trek, I hope it continues.
The single episode story is the way to go, and we are getting to know the crew and I like it.................. a lot.
There is only gripe, the brother of James T Kirk, Samuel Kirk Why? I am hoping that SNW will stay away from being Kirk heavy.

- TriviaThe missing Starfleet vessel is called the USS Archer, likely named after Captain Jonathan Archer, captain of the Enterprise NX-01 in Star Trek: Enterprise (2001). There was also a USS Archer in the fleet that the Enterprise E attempted to rendezvous with in Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).
- GoofsAccording to canon, Vulcan and Earth are 16 light years apart. According to accepted warp speed calculations, it would take 15 days at the top cruising speed of warp 6 to get between the two. When Pike tells Spock (who is on Vulcan) that they're shipping out "tonight" it's still morning where Pike is, yet, when he gets to Enterprise that evening, there's Spock waiting for him.
