Stoner, having named his snake Ruth, then gives his own account of the Biblical true story of Ruth, and goes on to state that Ruth and Naomi ran away together to Moab. The reality is that Naomi, her husband Elimelech and their sons Mahlon and Chilion left Israel during a famine and travelled southeast to Moab, whose people were descended from Lot, the nephew of Abraham. The two lads married two Moabite girls, Orpah and Ruth, and then the three men in the course of time died, leaving all three women as widows. Naomi decided to return to Israel, and Ruth remained with her - this was the loyalty Stoner was talking about. Through her second marriage, this time to Boaz, Ruth became the ancestor of both King David and the Lord Jesus Christ (in the flesh).
