To many questions left unanswered leads to an incoherent script that made no sense. It felt like they ran out money and just had to end it. The only bright spot is the lead actress who pretty good. But she can't salvage a poorly written script. Don't waste your time. Find something else to watch - anything else.
Samantha's grandparents are found murdered in their little house on a tiny island. Samantha inherits, and she goes to live there. The tiny seaside town has many small islands, where people have their homes.
In order to get to the house, they must use a boat.
We learn nothing of the grandparents, or any other of Samanthas family or history. She just turns up at the house, and starts living there. No one is interested in why the old folks died, and they are never mentioned.
The town people are hostile towards the newcomer, and wants her to leave. (Yawn) We are not told why that is. She doesn't bother anyone, where she is.
She discovers that someone has been in her house, and she is so laid back about the whole situation that its ridiculous.
Normal reaction for any sane human being, would have been fear or terror. You are alone on an island, where two people have been killed. And someone is clearly stalking you in your home. That should create some emotions!
The ending, and lack of explanation to anything, ruins what could have been a nice thriller. We are not given any motive for why the person does what s/he does. And even more annoying, there are literally only two suspects. Yup, there are three other actors in this movie, but one of them is taken care of, leaving only two suspects.
The ending sucks big time, with even more irrational behaviour from Samantha.
And why did they have to name the sheriff Sam?
No horror, no supernatural, no sex, no nudity, no profanity.

This rubbish would definitely be in my "All Time Worst 5 Films". After it finished I wished I'd NEVER bothered to watch it and had continued with the much more interesting job I WAS doing, of watching paint dry on a wall. I feel sure that somewhere down the line IMDB. Com must have an interest in this because when I checked out the reviews BEFORE I watched it, the reviews didn't exactly scream out " avoid like the plague" which it should have done - it is absolutely DIRE! First, the plus-points. The location looked quite nice. Now, the minus's. Acting, amateur and weak. Small cast, I especially wonder how Peter Berwick has survived "nearly half a century" in THIS cut-throat business? Story and script - there IS NO story, not an interesting or believable one anyway. The ending was the absolute worst - WHO or what were The Wolves? Why was the protagonist being threatend? What happened to Mort? What happened to Sam at the endand why did she appears as she did? Why did Michael behave the way he did towards her? It¡s way past time IMDB. Com gave a "Zero" option.
The movie looks like a draft of a movie. It's lacking all the parts where you'd normally go " Ahh ok !" So much is left unsaid that you have to make your own story with the 2 or 3 details they do tell us. The girl has a certain charm and is not a bad actress. That can't be said for all the other actors in this "movie"
The synopsis says that "the locals are less than welcoming and trying to hide a secret." The locals actually succeed in hiding the secret since the movie just stops before we find out what the secret is. I actually liked it pretty well up to the point where it started to become clear that the writers weren't sure what it was all about. It's not stunningly original or anything, but the setup works pretty well; it just sets up and.... the end. It's kind of a shame since a lot of things really seemed to be clicking, like Elaine Alexander's performance. Some plot elements defy common sense, which I suppose comes back to a weak script. Could have been a surprisingly good movie if they'd left that to bake all the way.
