The Blue Bird of Hope received an award, Best Documentary, Karl Bardhosh, Cellphone Cinema Award at AFI World Peace Initiative, Cannes American Pavilion 2019.

Andrea Meszaros - Founder/Director of Blue Bird Foundation - - is quoted as saying - - When you find a place that makes you feel respected and needed, it makes you feel you are of value that is a cathartic experience. Honestly we did not think the restaurant will be successful on this level. We wanted to create a blueprint, so we can share the concept, our guidebook all over the world. With one of our supporters, the American Organization NESst we found "social franchise" system the smartest way to go. Our dream and vision is to help create and inspire the opening of similar restaurants around the globe, but I think my biggest motivation is to work in a community where everyone can find their path to success and fulfillment. We work very hard to make this system work, but I think the positive outcome makes everything worthwhile and very rewarding. When we chose the name for the foundation our inspiration was a fable. The Blue Bird of Happiness. In that fable two little children are trying to find The Blue Bird of Happiness, they go to the past, to the future, they travel to many symbolic places for finding happiness but they fail. They go through lots of adventures, but they have to arrive home without the blue bird. To their biggest surprise next day when they wake up, the blue bird is right there in their very home. The fable touched me a great deal. My reading of it is, we can search for happiness in material or superficial things, in different experiences, but if we really want to be happy, we have to find the path inside ourselves. Me and my colleagues are hoping that we can help the handicapped and disabled people working with us to find the blue bird of happiness within themselves and we want to be instrumental in their journey.
