The idea was there, but this is an incredibly bare and foolish attempt at filmmaking. Pretty much everyone (perhaps with exception to the protagonist's roommate) couldn't act to save their lives, and all the dialogue was monotonic and moronic. The editing was poor; this was ridden with errors.
I get that this guy's life sucks: his boss is a complete ass and his co-worker is his ex girlfriend's aggressive brother. But my question is why not just escape it all? The boss gives him a paid week vacation- perhaps use that time to travel and meet an actual woman instead of harping on his annoying ex.
It's like watching a Friday night improv group where everyone on stage is confused. Only 70 minutes were wasted so it's not a total loss.

So glad I stumbled upon this... I can only hope this film gets the attention it so deserves-- especially Susan Lento. Can't wait to see more from her!
I enjoyed this film. It made me laugh at times and there were a few moments where I thought Dave was a really psycho. Felt good and bad for him at certain moments. Good job by the supporting actors too.
The movie is decent enough but it has SO many issues and problematic scenes. I like the acting from the actors who did Dave and Catherine. But the guy who played the new boyfriend was too monotone. It doesnt seem like he has acted before. There is also a scene that is very transphobic with a crossdressing hooker. As someone who is a part of the LGBT community, it was a bit uncalled for and insulting. Plus it had no relevance to the plot. You could have easily cut that scene and the movie would be the same. Also WHY does Dave get the doll? While the doll is important to the film, Dave has no reason to get it. He googles for the doll randomly with no real motivation. Maybe if the hooker or one of Dave's friends said something like "Dave, you suck at sex. Maybe you should practice with a love doll" or something, then there's a reason for him to look into it. this is a HUGE plot hole to the film. The movie needs to explain itself or viewers will be confused. Leaving out my criticism of the hooker scene and the plot hole out of it, the movie is still okay. It did have potential to be better but it seemed like so many short-cuts were made to make the film shorter. they should have done a lot more to it. think about it!

Love Dave takes dark humor to another level but also touches on some very real emotions. The actors play off each other nicely and the music feeds into the scenes seamlessly. What looks like an adult film actually turns into a tragic love story.
