Synopsis

  • While scouting spots to conduct interviews for the documentary Dylan and Matt are chased off a roof by someone not happy to see them. Following the events after finding a spot to conduct interviews Matt and Dylan explain to them what they believe fear is and how it effects people.

With the idea to push themselves outside of their comfort zones Dylan and Matt decide to go to Lithuania to visit their friend shiey. Upon arrival shiey takes them on different roofs within the city and their fun is forcibly ended when Matt slips on a roof and cuts his hand and bruises his leg. The noise wakes up an unhappy man who they call "Lithuanian Thor". Shiey attempts to lead the other two off the roof using an alternative way down. Lithuanian Thor grabs Dylan when he is lowering injured Matt off the last portion of the roof. Unaware that Dylan has been caught shiey and Matt run through alley ways to escape. After around 10-15 seconds they realize Dylan isn't with them. It soon becomes apparent that Dylan has been caught. They receive a call from Dylan saying everything was alright and he was able to explain the situation to Lithuanian Thor. They all soon reunite and return to their hotel for sleep. The next morning a knock is heard at the door and the national news media has heard about what happened the previous night. Matt and Dylan are then interviewed about their climbing and exploring, making front page papers. When Dylan had to return home shiey and Matt wanted to increase the exploration they were conducting. From then they explored everything from a bio chemical factory to finding an abandoned soviet crane to freight car hopping over 200KM at night. Even scaling roof 300 meters wide and climbing a 150 meter chimney.

When Matt returns with shiey to the UK shiey decides to meet up with Dylan and see what England has to offer. The start off riding the back of buses for 20-30 meters at low speeds and then up their game to riding on the roofs of them. After building experience and practicing in Lithuania they feel up for attempting roof gaps with 3-4 story drops below them. Constantly pushing their barriers, Dylan attempts to climb the tallest crane in the city. While half way up he realizes he gets more grip climbing the jib without shoes and socks. Upon summiting to the top a round of applause is heard from a neighboring park applauding Dylan on successfully completing his goal. When climbing down he is met with security and police but is able to explain what he was doing and what his intentions were. Both parties were content and Dylan was released with no issue. After conquering the glass dome roof Dylan explains it has allowed him to feel more confident at new and higher heights, therefore breaking his fears.

Matt, Dylan, and shiey embark on one final journey for the documentary. Deciding to go to Switzerland's mountain region they scout roofs to climb. After seeing the tallest building in the area they climb to the top of the spire and beautiful drone shots are scene with the Swiss Alps in the background. They then travel deeper into the Swiss Alps to attempt to climb Europe's tallest outdoor elevator shaft. When scouting the climb Dylan has a counter weight move past him thus making the crew realize the elevator is in active service. They decide to wait until the next day when it isn't in use and attempt to free climbing the entire height of it on the side of a mountain. Matt further explains in an interview scene that it is the most beautiful climb he has ever done, describing the calmness and the scenery around him with vivid imagery. For the rest of their trip they explore more of what Switzerland has to offer with climbing and exploring until they board the planes back to their home countries.

Matt explains in an interview that the person who he is now versus when he started the film is different when it comes to mental barriers. He explains that by being outside of his comfort zone and overcoming the mental and physical obstacles he was able to break more fears of climbing that he had at the start. The scene then starts with Matt climbing up a sky scraper with Dylan and friends. The scene cuts back to Matt in an interview explaining that if you want to do something, don't let fear stop you even unrelated to climbing and/or exploring. The scene cuts back to a drone shot panning out with all of them on top of a giant sky scraper in London and the main title credits start.
