New True Crime Doco “At Witt’s End – The Hunt for a Killer” for Hulu from Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions...

Stockholm-based production house Hobab whose buzzy Cannes Directors’ Fortnight “Clara Sola” was snapped by New-York-based Oscilloscope Laboratories, is ramping up its ambitions, with female-led projects.

“Our vision is to combine arthouse sensitivity with mainstream appeal, and to help talents – both Nordic and international – grow with care,” said Nima Yousefi, producer and joint owner with Peter Krupenin.

Pedigree European shingles Finland’s Tuffi Films, Denmark’s Toolbox and Italy’s Intramovies have boarded as co-producers Hobab’s next Swedish feature drama “Sisters,” from first-time fiction helmer Mika Gustafson.

Ruben Öslund’s former alumna at Göteborg’s Valand Academy, Gustafson had her international break with the short film “Mephobia,” followed by the doc-biopic “Silvana,” about rapper and feminist icon Silvana Imam.

Due to start lensing in June, “Sisters” is penned by Gustafson with actor-screenwriter Alexander Öhrstrand, seen in “The Bridge” and “The Hunt for a Killer.”

The Göteborg Film Festival’s annual TV industry event, TV Drama Vision, has unveiled its program, which focuses on sustainability and healthy working conditions at a time of hyper-competition in the drama space.

TV Drama Vision is set to unspool both in-person and online over Feb. 2-3.

As opening keynote, Johanna Koljonen, author of the anticipated Nostradamus Report, will kickstart the event’s conference strand, which is also due to new paths for creative producers, public funding at a crossroads, green filmmaking, diversity, changing business models and storytelling.

“The program, designed as always in close collaboration with the industry, will reveal how the streaming disruption, accelerated by the pandemic, is affecting us all. Inspired by real-life police investigations, the six-episode series will premiere in North America on Thursday, August 12, exclusively on the SundanceNow streaming service. I've seen all six episodes, and I'm still not sure how they did it. The show unfolds in a compelling fashion that made me progressively more nervous. With a minimum of fuss, the show lays out the case of a horrible murder in 1989 that took the life of a 10-year-old girl in a small town in southern Sweden. Ahead of the party, audiences will get to catch up with the cast as they settle back into their daily lives in Atlanta, Ga. When the show ended, some singles left with a sour taste in their mouth about the experiment’s outcomes, so there is no doubt there will be drama and surprise appearances.

BBC Four has picked up Swedish crime thriller “The Hunt for a Killer” from Banijay Rights. The series is produced by Yellow Bird and will head to BBC iPlayer later this summer. Set in the south of Sweden in the late ’80s, “The Hunt for a Killer” dramatizes the real-life disappearance and murder of a 10-year-old girl and its subsequent 16-year long investigation. Banijay has also sold the series to Sbs in Australia, Rtl in Germany and NBCUniversal in France. The series is co-produced by Banijay’s Yellow Bird and Swedish broadcaster Svt and Film I Skåne.
