Perhaps because their market has always been smaller and more segregated, gay porn discovered niche marketing long before the industry's straight side caught on. Companies like Jaguar, Nova and YMAC catered to admirers of youthful models eager as puppy dogs and twice as cuddly. Fans of the more mature male could always turn towards Colt and its subsidiary Buckshot label. Starting with solo loops of muscular, hirsute daddy types in the '70s, their mythical Minute Man series, they graduated to full-fledged hardcore penetration albeit with a disarmingly romantic slant, mostly one on one lovemaking with lots of kissing and caressing. They rarely made any pretense at narrative and so NAKED MUSCLES : THE NEW BREED is basically a collection of four extended loops with their trademark superior production values, professionally put together by veteran filmmaker and former Falcon figurehead John Rutherford and Kristofer Weston a/k/a Steve Landess from bear porn purveyor Brush Creek Media.
Hairy-chested hunk Adam Champ and smooth Chris Wide (from one of Colt's rare forays into plot-based porn, the epic two-parter BUCKLEROOS, jointly directed by legendary Jerry Douglas and this movie's Rutherford) play volley ball on the lawn but soon find each other's flawless physique too hard to resist. Great chemistry between these two Greek Gods, which sadly is more than can be said for the subsequent pairing of Adam Dexter and Cody Cooper. This is a shame since Dexter's a rare man of color for Colt. His hulking height contrasts nicely with Cooper's more diminutive stature but they just seem to be going through the motions.
Trust the aptly named Champ to pull this picture back on track with awe-inspiring Carlo Masi in the flick's finest display of fornication frenzy, passionately pumping the beefy stud atop his Harley Davidson. Ex-Falcon superstar Tom Chase brings up the rear with Masi in more ways than one, bottoming for the first time in a Colt feature, as packaging proudly proclaims, albeit briefly and looking rather uncomfortable throughout. Fortunately, the rest of the scene packs considerably more heat. No longer required to wax (!!!) his luxuriously fur-covered chest, Chase looks a lot more relaxed and happier, at least when he's not clenching his teeth while attempting to loosen his sphincter that is ! Ah well, just makes him a teeny tiny bit human like the rest of us, I guess. Bless you, Tom !
