I think it speaks volumes that there were zero laughs from children or adults in the cinema and when the lights came on there was only us and one other family left in the theatre.
I really didn't expect a sequel- the first one felt so perfect that when I heard about a follow-up, I worried it might be a forced continuation. But after watching it, while there are traces of "strained storytelling," the plot logic holds up.
This sequel centers on the long-nosed beast colony, with stories tied to Patch, their leader, as the main narrative thread. Overall, it's more suited for younger kids. From character styles to plot direction, everything is fairly conventional, with no particularly standout or fresh elements. That said, the film has plenty of laughs, so the viewing experience never feels dull. Older audiences might find the story a bit simplistic or childish, but as a lighthearted family animation, it's decent enough.

5 reviews for this in 5 years? Well, here comes the 6th!
There's gotta a be genre of straight-to-streaming animation flicks like this.
Everything about it is generic and cliche'd to the T. The whole theme of the movie, the interractions, the "funny" characters, the way they act, the tired "funny moments". So unimaginative. Everything is tired, derivative, unoriginal and falls flat. Even the environments are not original either, seen at least in a dozen other animation movies. I'd say only "nestrians" species were original and very cute. If this was made in 2025 I'd say it was made entirely by AI. This is where you see the B-grade-ness of it. Very poor unimaginative script, poor progression, poor character development, poor "trouble" and poor "solutions".
The beginning was quite promising, but the middle one hour of it was bland and boring and not going anywhere, the short ending was kind of ok but didn't really save this wreck, it also seemed lost at building tension or any kind of moment.
The whole movie basically flopped helplessly like a fish on a beach sand.
It's everything you've seen 1000 times before. Worst yet, it's just not interesting. My kid got bored to it in the long 2nd act and we barely made it to the end.

Like for the first one, I don't think the score reflects the quality of the movie. It may not equal the best Pixar movies, but the story is more well-written than many animated blockbusters from the big studios.
The animation is pretty descent and the characters well-developed. I think more people should give it a try, even adult. I enjoyed both movies.
