Charlie & Boots

Edit
During the end credits, Paul Hogan's character wonders how long it took to paint the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Paul Hogan worked as a painter on the bridge prior to making it as an actor/comedian.
The film is "dedicated to the memory of Reg Evans and all those who lost their lives in the Victorian Bushfires on Black Saturday 2009". This is a reference to the tragic events of Saturday 7th February 2009, in which an estimated 173 people died and 414 were injured during Australia's all-time worst bushfire disasters. Amongst those who sadly perished were the actor (who played Mac in the film) and his partner, Angela Brunton.
Boots's car is a 1976 Holden Kingswood. The car now belongs to actor Shane Jacobson who is a Holden enthusiast and collector.
Upon reaching the top of Australia, the characters look out at open water, however there are two islands (York and Eborac Island) which have been digitally removed from this shot.
After leaving the rest area when they broke the window and got the guitar back, it shows them driving on the right hand side of the road with traffic oncoming on the left, and the numbers are inverted on the letter box.
