    Promising, but not delivering

Just finished watching this documentary. I'm a real Maya and Aztecs buff and so I was pretty anxious to watch this. Though it was reasonably good, it gave no really new insights. Wat was absolutely disappointing was that the end was wide open. I was left with the feeling that I had to wait for episode two. Which never came...

    it's a good documentary...

... but the terrible edition makes it painful to watch...

Interesting...but not what most viewers are probably looking to see.

I have noticed a trend in documentaries over the last decade or so. In many cases, the shows promise all sorts of amazing and earth-shattering discoveries....and really don't deliver. Such is also the case with "Buried Truth of the Maya", a mildly interesting documentary that seems to have a lot of hype...hype which takes away some from enjoying the actual show.

I decided to watch the documentary because I am scheduled to visit the Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá in a few months. Unfortunately, it really is not a general documentary about the place...but instead follows a few researchers who have theorized that the alignment of El Castillo (the main pyramid) was placed there because of underground rivers that possibly run underneath the place. You see a lot of interesting devices such as ground penetrating radar, an underwater guided camera and more...but you really DON'T see whether or not their theories pan out or not.

Overall, mildly enjoyable but not as amazing as the narrator makes it sound. A lot of hype...too much for a truly scientific examination of these ruins.

    No truth was found here

Would be too good to be true if they really would've found something new. Such an effort to bring some suspense to their search but a bit of a fail. And the commentary from the so call professionals are worse than from a soap opera. Was really expecting some new discoveries but was left disappointed. They say that the smaller pyramid is not accessible to general public but didn't mention that also the el castillo is not accessible to public to climb up.

At least it's not completely waste of time...

"Buried Truth of the Maya" is a Documentary in which we watch the exploration of the ancient Maya civilization, focusing on new discoveries and archaeological digs that aim to uncover the mysteries surrounding their decline. The documentary promises to shed light on one of history's most fascinating cultures, but while the subject matter is rich with potential, the documentary struggles to deliver a compelling narrative.

I liked this documentary but I have also to admit that I expected more from it. The documentary offers intriguing insights into Maya history and uncovers some fascinating discoveries, such as hidden tombs and artifacts. The visuals are decent, with some impressive footage of excavations and ancient ruins. However, the film feels somewhat shallow in its exploration of the Maya's rise and fall, failing to provide a deeper understanding of their culture or the complexities behind their collapse. To sum up, I have to say that "Buried Truth of the Maya" is an interesting and informative documentary but it doesn't go far enough in delivering a captivating or thought-provoking exploration of the Maya civilization. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone mainly because there are better and even more interesting documentaries to watch.
