Sexy & compelling, Poe with Italian supermodels

Sexy and compelling, Poe with Italian supermodels

Very visually striking. A masque of the red death visit with cool drone shots to an Italian villa with masked models. Light on dialogue high on style.

Standing up to the red death a bit on the nose re: living life in pandemic times but a good thought.

Beguiling images and doesn't overstay its welcome Art, production design, cinematography all top notch. Rich environments well lit and well shot. Makes me wish I was stranded in an Italians villa with models in masks during my pandemic isolation. A fun feast for the eyes - ears too s the music drove the visuals Edgar Wright style. Definitely worth watching.

    Good script, bad editing

The Red Death is a short film that starts with a fascinating premise-a haunting reinterpretation of Edgar Allan Poe's gothic vision with a fresh, modern edge. The idea behind the film is rich with potential, blending psychological horror with surreal symbolism, and it's clear the creators had a strong conceptual direction in mind.

However, the execution is where the film unfortunately falters-most notably in its editing. The transitions are jarring, the pacing inconsistent, and the overall flow of scenes feels choppy and disorganized. Rather than enhancing the eerie atmosphere or supporting the narrative tension, the editing comes across as amateurish, pulling the viewer out of the experience. Abrupt cuts, mismatched sound, and awkward timing severely undercut the emotional impact and mood the story attempts to build.

Despite its promising core idea and some visually intriguing moments, The Red Death struggles to rise above its technical flaws. With more polished post-production and a tighter editorial hand, this could have been a standout short. As it stands, it's a rough sketch of something that could-and should-have been far more gripping.
