    As 5 as a 5 can be

Can't say I hated it and can't say I liked it. It was just something I watched for about 100 minutes.

Can we make a new movie without having to beat up on a certain group of people with a certain gender they were born into? We get it white male bad. British white male snobby and rich every single one of them and colonialists even though they were born in the 21st century.

Also let's please stop making movies with the "I told you so best friend". Girllll! That is the whitest man I've ever seen. Girlllll you have gotten any in a longgg time. Girlllll you better be careful cause these people are crazy. You almost hope the friend will somehow "meet her demise".

It's ok to put modern twists on stories, but we don't need to make another cliche modern movie where the main character has to look like a carbon copy west village New Yorker who happens to have the best friend who knows everything in life. It's just lazy writing.

If you need something to take up less than 2 hours of your time and be a little entertaining, this is the movie for you.

    Ran out of steam

The beginning showed real promise all the actors new what they were doing even if there was a lack of meaningful dialogue at times which ment their characters didn't really go anywhere eg shaun pertwee is a really good actor with real presence but was sadly underused and whos character could of added some sadly needed menace .the real problem with this film is it just lost momentum half way through and became lame and predictable the fight between the female vampires actually made me laugh out loud as it deteriorated into what looked like a drunken cat fight ! .a real shame as I love a gothic horror.

    Another Gen Z Movie

Where has all the good writers? I think there was a Hollywood purge where all the good writers have been booted out and the only ones left are socially corrupt morons. I'm not sure that we will ever have a good industry ever again. Maybe one day people will wake up and get their act together Where has all the good writers? I think there was a Hollywood purge where all the good writers have been booted out and the only ones left are socially corrupt morons. I'm not sure that we will ever have a good industry ever again. Maybe one day people will wake up and get their act together. Good luck with this garbage.

    "The Invitation" versus "Backstreet's Back"

"The Invitation" reminded me of 90s superband "Backstreet Boys" and their video for "Everybody: Backstreet' s Back" with dancing vampires, werewolves, and zombies in a gothic castle under the fool moon (yes, I am such a boomer, I know!).

Even few naïve Americans and very dramatic red dress included!

The bad thing: "Everybody: Backstreet' s Back" had a better plot (yes, you read me correctly). And you can watch it free of charge on Youtube in three minutes.

The good thing: there are few nice jokes in the movie. Actors look so much better, and no one is singing. That' s a really big bonus, you have to agree.

Should have been better, but it's not bad

I was excited to see this because I knew the lead actors for playing support roles only like Nathalie Emmanuel in GOT and fast and furious or Thomas Doherty in high fidelity and legacies. I love how it starts off dark, it's not uncommon for recent horrors to ease you in by starting out like any regular movie before throwing you into the dark. It maintains it's gloomy nature despite the characters having a more cheery aura, but you feel something's off. It's like a blend of midsommer, Ready or Not and Get Out, with a fantasy element to it. Midsommer and Ready Or Not were more bloody thrillers than actual horrors in my opinion while this was actively trying to scare you. It has a more old fashioned horror feel compared to recent 'blockbuster horrors' (I don't know if that's a thing); everything happens in the dark, there's a lot of build up and I loved how 3AM was made the hour the devil comes out to play. It also leaned on it's gloomy atmosphere and jump scares for the horror element.

There's a lot of build up to most scenes so it was slow paced, I felt some silences were literally just 2s too long. Second twist in the third act of the movie wasn't pretty underwhelming, and this was meant to be the big closer. I also try to avoid trailers but i saw a teaser that ruined the suspense and thrill of one of the scenes, so I suggest doing a better job at avoiding them than I did. For that same reason, when everything unveiled I was pleasantly surprised it's not the genre of horror I thought this was going to be, won't say 'cause I don't wanna spoil it for you but I haven't seen a horror in this fantasy genre in a while so I loved it.

All in all, I think it's a good movie that was supposed to be better than it is because the climax scenes don't hit as high as they're meant to, with a rushed finale to top that. Otherwise the movie doesn't do much wrong and is worth a watch for me. Somebody said it's a feminist movie, I see where they're coming from but that's such a reach man.

    • Trivia
As Evie exits the airport, the last picture shown on the airport wall is of Whitby in North Yorkshire. As already mentioned to Evie by Oliver in New York, this was the supposed location of the film, and the place that Dracula was said to have landed in England, by ship called the Demeter, from Varna, Bulgaria.
    • Goofs
Earlier in the movie, Maid #4 is seen being attacked in the cellar and having her neck snapped. However, in the scene in Walt's library following Evie's escape attempt, there is another Maid #4 that is seen moving woozily from blood loss. Maid #4 in the library would not be able to move the way she does if she had previously had her neck snapped in the cellar. Snapping someone's neck, in the very least, paralyzes them; at worst, Maid #4 should be dead in the library scene.
