Basically in the Korean one, they had two men training and in this one, there's two women, the rest is pretty much the same other than this being overdramatic. As much as I liked the Korean (original) one, I just couldn't seem to like it a lot due to it not portraying a real life scenario, everything seemed a little too much, that's what I personally feel. The beginning when they were messing with each other could've been shortened a bit and their bonding time could've been extended a little as well. But one that must be mentioned is the effort the actresses took build up the structure of it was truly appreciable.
Hindi movies can have some ridiculous action scenes, if bahubali can get away with it, then by all means Shalini and damini should, but by all means, this movie had one of the best action scenes by women, no stunt doubles, its not perfect but you definitely see the work the actresses put in. Action choreography was good too, supporting characters are forgettable though. No dance number, it definitely was not needed. No stunt doubles, movie trope is familiar but not cliche, also they showed after math injuries, all in all, a good movie in its own rights, they are definitely things that could be improved but it's ok.
Great initiative - one of those rare women centric police/action-cum-comedy movie with realistic action sequences and fun moments. Love how light hearted the movie starts, and slowly starts churning out the real story. Starts off as a typical college/University based movie plot and evolves into a more serious story. Nivetha Thomas and Regina Cassandra show excellent command over the language (Telugu) and share a beautiful rapport on screen. If you are looking for something sensible and fun to watch, over lunch or over dinner, you could add this to your list! One of Netflix's good additions lately.
The movie is a girl power action comedy. Two women from different backgrounds meet at a police training. They resolve their differences and become good friends. They solve a kidnap case like they are james bond. I was under an impression that Indian cinema is slowly distancing itself from one man hitting 100 people. But this one is one woman hiyying 100s of people. A typical action movie with no big surprises.
The first half od the movie is funny and breezes through the eye. The second part is actually the heavy weight. The stunt sequences in the second half were great. Showing all other police officials in a bad light was unwarranted. The reason for the kidnap was novel and was interesting. They could have added more power to villain. That might have helped. The climax lacked that drama.
All in all, we can watch the movie once. Not more than that.

Saakini Daakini is the story of two girls(more like women) who joins the police academy for completely different reasons and the incidents that happens during their training. Shalini is bold and carefree but has no idea what to do with her life while Daamini, who has some cleanliness disease, is there for her parents who are police officers.
The first half shows the rivalry between these two and tries to be funny by injecting comic actors. Some of the scenes were funny but most scenes felt forced or lame. It was like there's nothing serious happening in a police academy.
Things take a turn once they see a girl getting kidnapped infront of them. While I am all for "girl power", them fighting all those goons weren't convincing enough. Shaalini has a Kabaddi background and is powerful enough to fight off some goons. But Daamini isn't. It should've been set up in a better way.
However, both the actress deserves an applaud for their efforts during the action scenes.
The action choreography and cinematography looks solid but the background score was so bad during the action scenes. I don't understand the need for including the goddess Kali thing. It felt so cringey.
That being said, it's not a bad movie. It can be fun if you could ignore the bad scenes.
