The review made by "fthe-26508" is bullsht. The ending was greater than most anime movies. He did not even know that there are post-credit scenes. Rating it 2/10 is the biggest bullsht I've ever seen this year. THE MOVIE IS GREAT> ur opinion fthe-26508.

The execution of all the emotions was perfect and it reached my heart. And studio Bones did an excellent job with animating the film. The animation quality was on par with "Your Name". Overall a very nice romance movie. Loved it🌸🌸

There are a lot of coincidences in the screenplay, and one character is absolutely terribly written. But with a stead hand behind the direction, believable and well written characters and gorgeous art to top it all off, this film is a treat that is very much deserving of your time.

Warm hearted, perfectly executed movie. To be honest really the plot isn't complicated, supernatural or science fictional. Just a simple romance story of a boy and a handicapped girl. Yet it's superbly executed! And the animation is like icing on the cake, the soundtrack is also great,i was hesitating at first that it might be another heart breaking, emotional movie but to my surprise the ending was really great and every minute is worth it. With no offense and no comparison to other anime films it's an amazing movie in itself.

Plot
Tsuneo is a university student and Josee is a young girl who has rarely gone out of the house by herself due to her being unable to walk. The two meet when Tsuneo finds Josee's grandmother taking her out for a evening walk.
Cast
Not seen anything else by the creators.
Verdict
I'm that guy who wants to like anime, who really wants to be an anime fan but seems to consistently struggle whether it be movie or television show. You see I don't like the cutesy stuff, I don't like the Naruto/Dragonball over the top stuff and that seems to make up far too high a percentage. When it's come to shows I've enjoyed the likes of Death Note, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online etc and most of the Studio Ghibli stuff however many comparable movies haven't won me over to the same extent.
After Your Name (2016) I went in assuming the worst and something in the same vein. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Your Name but didn't get the critical acclaim.
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish is a quaint, sweet, thought provoking poignant tale that I very much appreciated however the execution I found lacking. How? I'm not entirely sure. It should have been an emotional tour de force, yet I found myself oddly unimpacted. The writing wasn't to the standard I expected and Josee's resentment and attitude I respect but thought it waned too slowly and for this reason I didn't empathize as much as I expected nor wanted.
I respect the film and what they were trying to do but for me it just missed the mark.
Rants
It does pain me that I don't like anime as much as I'd like. I've watched plenty of films, countless shows and my enjoyment tends to lack. Don't get me wrong Ghibli stuff is great but beyond that I struggle especially with shows. I've been recommended countless from Hitman Reborn! To Magical Girl Site and Highschool of the Dead! If you have any recommendations by all means contact me via the details on my profile.
Breakdown
Deep meaningful stuff Great premise Character likability suffers Something is simply missing.

So worth the watch, a very beautiful story! The animation was gorgeous! And the storyline was fun, heart breaking, happy, lesson filled, and all around lovely!
Make sure you stay through all of the credits! Very worth it!

A potentially sweet drama about disabled lives and dreams devolves into clichéd teenage melodrama with the obligatory love triangles and cheesy dialogue. I swear I've seen this before. It starts out like The Intouchables (without the class divide) and ends up like... well, half the anime I've seen (not sure why I subject myself to that). At least the animation was gorgeous and the characters were expressive.

Great Visuals but Josee is so annoying that made me root for the other girl to be together with Tsuneo at the end of the film.

As you may have seen in the synopsis, Josee meets Tsuneo by coincidence, and she decides that despite her limitations, she wants to travel. If you watched the clip earlier, you already know that they both snuck away while her grandma napped and explored a part of the globe Josee had never seen before or had not seen in a very long time. She was exposed to more of the outside world at those times, which she found to be both exciting and terrifying.
I won't go into too much detail because I've been looking forward to this movie and I know I'll love it. People clapped at the film's conclusion in the theaters where I was viewing it, so I think it was entertaining enough even if you didn't know anything about the story beforehand.

Heard of this movie from a friend who recommended it. It holds up well in comparison to other recent great animation films such as "Your Name" and "Silent Voice". It is unique and tells a story on its own values and lessons. Live, Love, Dream. I recommend it too if you like films of the same genre.

This movie can be incredibly cliche and sappy while also using a lot of the tropes expected from romance stories.
However, I still came out completely in love with it. There is a sense of heart and soul in every scene, every music score and every performance from both Japanese and the English dubbed. It's just a wonderfully made film that is just beautiful to look at with its amazing animation and character.
While romance is a core element of the film, there is also a wonderful message about allowing yourself to be able to pursue what you want without being shackled by your own situation.
It's a sweet and heart-warming film that you will no doubt enjoy.

I had the opportunity to sit down and watch the 2020 Anime "Josee, Tiger and the Fish" (aka "Joze to tora to sakanatachi"). I used to watch a lot of Animes back in my youth, but haven't been keeping up with that trend. But after reading the synopsis for this 2020 Anime, I must admit that I had to sit down and watch it, as this sounded like it could be a good story.
And writer Sayaka Kuwamura definitely managed to pen together a story that not only was entertaining and enjoyable, but also very touching and heartfelt as well. So yeah, "Josee, Tiger and the Fish" is definitely an Anime with a heart.
The art in "Josee, Tiger and the Fish" is pretty classic Anime. It was good and nicely drawn, for sure, but it wasn't exactly an art style that made me go 'wow'. But then again, this story is driven by the its spirit and heart, not by its physical presentation.
The voice acting in "Josee, Tiger and the Fish" was good. I watched the original Japanese langauge version, as I fully on loathe dubbed versions of anything.
After having seen this 2020 Anime from director Kôtarô Tamura, I found out that there is a 2003 Japanese live action movie of the very same story. Needless to say that I am not on a hunt for tracking this down to watch. There was also a 2020 South Korean adaptation of the same story, titled "Josée", that one I have already seen. And I found this 2020 Anime to be more enjoyable than the 2020 South Korean live action movie actually.
If you haven't already seen this 2020 Anime, I can warmly suggest that you do so, because this is one of those stories that sink in and stick with you.
My rating of "Josee, Tiger and the Fish" lands on a well-deserved seven out of ten stars.

This movie is already released online, but it's getting a limited theatrical release tomorrow, so I decided to watch it.
Drama romance anime has been popular for stealing tears from audiences with the heartbreaking and beautiful relationship between the young male and female. It's hard to go wrong with this genre, and this movie definitely went on the right track. This means either capturing the positives of the genre or being formulaic and predictable. Well, both interpretations describe this movie.
Every plot points are pulled straight from the drama romance textbook. This didn't necessarily mean the movie is bad, but the predictability still hampered on the emotion, especially throughout the first half of the movie.
The two main character's relationship was pretty fun because the main girl was a tsundere and could not walk. Even though nothing was new, when the major event happened, their relationship became much more investing. The way both of them grew raised the emotional level significantly, especially from the main girl through what she did to our main guy.
The animation was unsurprisingly gorgeous. The scenes with the ocean and the girl's dream were calm and breathtaking.
There were two major issues with the stories. Near the end, there was a love triangle (you can clearly saw this coming), but got ignored almost right away. Then, the last 10 minutes was purely cheese and forced, even though it was sweet.
Overall, another good romance drama anime despite not offering anything new. 7.5/10.

Stop rating movies 7/10 or 9/10 if all you say is great things about it. Your not a critique, your just another person who watched it. You're the type of people that actually puts people of watching movies when they could find them amazing. If you recommend the movie why tf are you eating it a 7? Honestly just please stfu.

What an annoying child that brat is in that wheelchair (especially in the beginning), and what a wimp that boy is who just keeps swallowing everything, something that doesn't make this story more credible, (or are Japanese young men really that easy-going?)
Too bad the drawing style is also a bit disappointing, although it is certainly not bad, but compared to the older Japanese animation films it is quite disappointing.
The story does take its time, the build-up to the romance between the two is done reasonably well but not very convincing, also because the boy never shows for a moment that he is fed up with her arrogant behavior and shows a bit of backbone, that would have given the story so much more depth .
Then you wonder why he chooses her while another girl is waiting for him, there is actually no satisfactory answer to that question.

I went to go see this movie with a friend and neither of us were disappointed. When my boyfriend went to see it a few days before and wasn't fond of it, I was sceptical, but I was glad that my expectations were exceeded.
The only problem I have with the film is that the pacing in the first half is a bit off. Everything seems to happen a bit too quickly, but for a short movie, I can't blame it, and the rest of the movie more than made up for this small detail.
I loved this film and would recommend to anybody who likes emotional romances and an anime-style animation.

A lot about this film can be considered successful. The drawings are once again very beautiful, even if there have been even more successful Japanese animes in this field in recent years. The plot is quite interesting; for non-Japanese, dealing with disabled people and disability is certainly not ubiquitous in Japan.
But despite being more than just good, the film lacks a bit of depth. The figure drawing is also rather weak. The motivation of none of the characters involved is convincingly presented. Tsuneo remains pale at all, a real character of his own is almost never recognizable. He remains unbelievable. He only shows real emotions twice in the film, only in these moments is he a tangible and believable character. Joze's anger can certainly be explained - but the film fails to provide an explanation. What her grandma wanted, planned and thought is also left to the viewer; the film fails to give an answer.
Films don't have to answer all questions and it's okay if viewers have to think for themselves. But this only works if you have enough information. This leaves beautiful pictures, a nice story, a high claim, but also a lot of questions and a patchwork quilt of a film.
