    confessions of a compulsary mind...

And so vindictive on raw violation that my jaw just dropped of. Some people say cannibal holocaust is the grossest of headless grotesque filmaking and, well, this film is a close race to the just mentioned.

Its a disturbing story about a couple visiting another, the women are related, and both couples marriages is in critical conditions, and in the aftermath of a blackout alcohol consumption party by the bonfire makes one of the women go of the hinges after being sexually violated, in a dellirious act of revenge, raw violence, and a way of doing the deeds reminds me of historical medeval hangmen under the motto'' hanging, drawing and quatering'' the culprit.( see website capital punishment UK)

This is a film that will satisfy 1 pr 100000, its gross on everything because its looks so darn realistic and the human pain and deprevation is so allabsorbing, and the ultragory orgy of grotesque revenge will haunt you for days to come. Filmatographicly its a well made product, and the music made for this project is just as nervewrecking as the slaying.

The grumpy old man doesnt recommend a watch. This is not gory horror, rather a truthfully realistic act of bestialic murder.

    Missed Opportunity

This movie has potentials and seems really promising but it turns out disappointing. It has great elements like amazing cinematography, beautiful intense score and has a nice idea but the story fails in portraying it. The screenplay seems weak, useless and missing something. And the narrative is so annoying. All in all, Violation is well made but it's confusing and hard to follow.

I really wanted to like this film.

When I saw Violation at TIFF earlier this year, the passion from the creators was more than evident, with their capabilities being well showcased in the short films created in the past 13 years or so. A lot of those technical capabilities can be found here, made more impressive by the film's small budget. It features a solid performance from Madeline Sims-Fewer in the lead role, some fantastic color choices, and impressive practical effects. However, where this film falls flat in my opinion is in the content of its story. The film has a solid concept at its core, and naturally warrants a slower pace; but unfortunately does not make good use of its time. Between long conversation scenes adding little to the story, and intense scenes progressively becoming sluggish, the hour and 40 minute runtime of the film ultimately feels unwarranted, and often padded. I would love to see more from the directors, as they are clearly very talented, but Violation unfortunately left me feeling disappointed.

    could have been good

    I love the visuals.

Jumping back and forth in timeline makes it really confusing. I didnt know whats happening till i gotta go read other people's review.

Now its like teaching people how to fry an egg by telling them first to flip the egg and then you crack the egg into a bowl... server the fried egg on a plate... then add oil... wait for the egg to cook... pour the egg on the hot pan... Wish they stop doing all the fancy schmancy cuts and tell the story like normal people do... in chronological order.

    Deep cuts

How do you deal with grey areas? Now the main incident that kicks our main character ... out of her "comfort zone" I reckon you could call it ... is something that a lot of people will have a debate over. The movie almost dares you to talk about it ... make a judgement ... give your take on what you think happened or rather who is to blame - maybe even both individuals.

I personally think it is clear whose fault it is - having said that, it does not mean I agree with what follows - what is being done to the guilty party. Now you can interpret that any way you want. And the movie makes it easy to get triggered ... it shows a situation that could and does unfortunately happen. But again, there are grey areas ... so there is room for some debate - or is there? Even that is up for debate ... a movie that dares and does handle a subject matter that has been exploited in a different fashion ... while ultimately also exploiting it ... differently and in some forms the same ways ... it is tough to actually go into certain crazy things that happen ... and if you are squeamish you probably shouldn't even watch this ... everyone else prepare yourself to feel very uncomfortable ...

    • Trivia
Madeleine Sims-Fewer said in an interview that she was inspired by male antiheroes from other films -- like Taxi Driver's Travis Bickle and Harvey Keitel in Bad Lieutenant -- for her character because she couldn't think of any female antiheroes who felt the same way the men did. She said those men "do really unspeakable things but you're still along for the ride with them. That's something that I feel really passionately about, creating these characters who are despicable and who are awful and conflicted and almost kind of OCD in their single-mindedness of what they think is right. Miriam believes that she is a crusader for good. Whatever we then see of her as an audience, it was integral that she thinks she is the white knight in the story."
    • Goofs
We see that the main character burns the bodies of the people she kills in a bonfire, and then sprinkles their ashes in the nearby lake. But a bonfire would not produce ashes. The bones would not burn, so the skeleton would remain, even after dismemberment.

Dylan: Things escalated really quickly. It never should have happened.

Miriam: No, it shouldn't. I didn't want it.
