Congressman Steven Hartley is accused and arrested for the murder of his wife, Jane Hartley. Arriving home after dining with Pete, a fellow congressmen Hartley finds his wife on the floor of their ransacked living room. Jane is laying in a pool of blood with a horrific wound across her throat. Detective Kinney, following a 9-1-1 call orders Hartley outside, enters the house, conducts a search of the residence, draws his conclusion and steps outside to arrest Hartley. The film then guides the viewers through the search for the truth.
