    What is a sausage?

Terrence Redford, a writer with writer's block has lost his grandmother to an accident, Wicky is sent to clean up.

I now understand that format of the show, I was hoping to see Helena Bonham Carter back, but it seems now we'll be getting Greg, and a guest actor, this week it was David Mitchell, who has a very specific comedy.

I didn't think it was as funny as the series opener, but I did enjoy it, it had a few amusing moments, it's what I'd class as high brow comedy. I did chuckle at the two ladies at the door, that was a nice touch.

Some poignant thoughts about grief, how we can grieve for a pet, but not a loved one.

    Pretty good, 6/10.

    Horrible Screeching Episode

The main aspect in this episode is a writer screaming argumentatively for the whole episode. So awful you want to mute it and hope something interesting happens. This is 180° from the fun, creatively written episode one. Not a clever line in this one.

    The Writer

In the main The Cleaner is going to be a two hander with a guest star each week.

In the second episode. David Mitchell plays pompous author Terence Redford with writer's block.

Wicky has turned up at the wrong time for Terence. Even though his grandmother burnt to death in his living room.

Reluctantly Terence accepts he needs the Cleaner but Wicky needs to be really quiet.

Along the line they have a conversation about literature.

It's less blood splattered than the opener. There are farcical moments such as the shelves collapsing, a violent cat and that Dylan Thomas book dropping into the bucket.

Less darker than the first episode, it tries hard to be funnier as well but again it is just middling.

    • Trivia
David Mitchell's character Terence Redford keeps a stuffed blackbird in his office. Mitchell of course is well-known for portraying William Shakespeare in the comedy series Upstart Crow (2016) which features an animated crow in the credits and other graphics. The phrase "upstart crow" was in turn an insult thrown by critic Robert who accused Shakespeare of plagiarism.
