Kazuma Kamachi’s A Certain Magical Index anime was first released in 2008. A Certain Scientific Railgun is a spin-off of the original series, which began its run in 2009. Both anime started around the same time, but A Certain Magical Index serves as the proper introduction. This is the reason why fans have been eagerly waiting for Index season 4 as well.
