Renegades: Ominara

A fine proof of concept

Renegades Ominara features the final performance from Sci Fi legend Nichelle Nicoles, that alone warents checking the film out. Also keeping in mind that this is a lower budget production (I was a backer), so don't go in expecting VFX on par with Star Trek. That being said, I think while this works as a proof of concept (sort of like what Within the Woods did for Evil Dead) the sets and some of the VFX detract from the overall bigger ideas the movie tries to present. I think in particular the bridge that is shown during the end of the film was really lacking. All the actors do well in their roles, the dialogue for the most part is fine and I think the director films scenes in a style that is fine but lacks personality (which could be a good thing, some directors try way too hard).

Even though I didn't love the movie, I thought it was fine I would still recommend it to fans of science fiction that have 40 minutes to kill.
