Soulmate

This movies is based off a book and also there's a Chinese version (original) of this movie released on 2016. Kim Da-Mi is one of my favorite actress despite her excellent performance in every role she does. There's something about her expression that feels so real and connectes so well. The key highlights of this movie is the story and camera play, you will feel the old vibe of Jeju island.

Two best friends very opposite of their personalities becoming really close to each other and doing so the bond they form character they build and a world their create within. We never actually released how impactful someone's presence in our life.

Two friends totally opposite to each other living their dreams differently (actually one is living her parents' dream and the other one is living her friend's dream). The way they depict their characters is just amazing. Freedom is just another word for nothing to lose, that literally hits hard. At the end they live the life totally opposite they lived before. (Spoiler: And the baby is a blessings for her. It gave her the responsibility to settle down.) There's nothing wrong in either living a carefree life or living a settled life. Every life is beautiful till you enjoy it.

The movie is great. The way they protray every single character is just marvelous. The rise and transition of emotion gives me pure joy. It's simple and complex at the same time. It feels like Schrodinger's smiley :): I am happy and sad at the same time.

Why I watch this movie? Well, in my college days, everyone named our duo as SOULMATE (me and my friend-roommate). This is the reason I started watching this movie. We used to share every single moments of our life. We laugh, we cry, we study, we try, we travel altogether. At our brightest moment, we were together. (Well, I'm straight so don't mean it otherwise.) Now we don't talk much, but maybe we still know we'll be there for each other if we need or maybe I'm delusional, ha ha ha.

Soulmate is such a beautiful take on friendship and what it truly means to have a soul mate. I cried a lot watching this movie just because it was so beautiful. Kim Da Mi is a brilliant actress and this role solidifies her ability to take on anything but who stood out for me was Jeon so Nee, her quiet charm, the ease of her gentleness on screen captures the role she plays just too well.

A well-directed movie, the merge between past and present never left you confused and even the cliffhanger parts were played out correctly too, Give it a watch if you've seen "Beaches" or you just want to watch something that will stir you up.

I rewatched the Chinese version right after finishing this one. In my opinion, this version features more stunning visuals and feels lighter and easier to digest. On the other hand, the Chinese version comes across as more mature, with a darker and more tragic tone. The Chinese version also has a better-composed ending and delivers a more cohesive narrative.

The Chinese version can enhance the viewing experience even after watching this one, as it includes more dialogue and provides additional explanations on how certain actions were carried out.

Character-wise, Miso feels more natural, while Anshen has a childlike selfish vibe. Haeun appears sweeter, whereas July is more dynamic, which helps fill the gaps in the storyline.

I haven't read the book nor watched the original movie yet. I plan on doing it now tho.

Well, I understand why some people won't say It's a perfect movie or anything like that but tbh I just felt so much while watching that I can't put It straightly in words.

Soulmate brings you a narrative about friendship and love in a different view. I think thay If you pay attention to the smallest phrases and moments you'll get just how deep some people can be in other's life and how human relationships are way more complex to understand.

I just couldn't help but cry over and over as I felt so much in which piece of this. I kept thinking just how can we live hoping that dreams and thoughts hold us to the very end. The narrative made me go back in all the thoughts about giving up or not wanting to keep going but you just feel, you can't say this movie hasn't make you hope to understand a truly relation and real feelings.

It was just too hard to not hold in the perspective of how empty the life can be while watching. I highly recommend this movie.
