    TYPICAL BRITISH

It's just your typical British fare over the last few decades, badly filmed, badly acted badly scripted, I have no idea where British actors graduate from these days but the standard is extremely low on all fronts. Save yourself and delete this atrocity from your mind and never mention it anyone, ever, it is deserved of being placed into the anals of anyone who writes even a slightly positive review, everything about this reeks of the worst movie ever created and I've seen the worst, it's certainly no dog soldiers or 28 days Later, sadly, those days long gone for the British film industry and us.

    Abysmal...

Right, well I have to admit that I was lured in by the movie's cover, as there is something alluring by giant arachnids. But most such movies are questionable affairs at best, and thus I didn't really harbor any grand expectations to "Creep Encounters", as it was a movie that I had never heard about.

And from the very first scene, where you actually get to see giant spiders, it becomes abundantly clear that this was a very low budget movie, as the CGI animated spiders looked like something that had escaped from a 1990s computer game.

Writer and director Jason M. J. Brown put together a pretty straightforward script, although a rather generic and formulaic one. So the teachers and students couldn't just open a window in the school and escape the school that way, since the doors were barred? It made absolutely not sense, and it was just terrible writing and storytelling.

The majority acting performances in the movie were amateurish and wooden, some were actually even fully stripped of acting talents, but others managed to do a fair enough job. Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list.

Visually, well let's just say don't get your hopes up for "Creep Encounters" as the CGI animated spiders look absolutely horrible. It was actually so bad to look at that the spiders looked like a comic relief more than a menacing danger to be feared.

"Creep Encounters" looked and felt like a home-made movie or perhaps even a film class school project.

If you enjoy horror movies, do yourself a favor and don't waste 72 minutes on watching "Creep Encounters". Some of us literally suffered through this movie, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.

The movie's cover was actually the best thing about the entire movie, and it over-sells the actual contents of the movie by a landslide.

My rating of writer and director Jason M. J. Brown's 2024 movie "Creep Encounters" lands on a very generous one out of ten stars.

    Spider Romp

Really enjoyed this Low Budget but nicely put together Spider romp. The use of the enclosed rooms brought a claustrophobic feel to the whole film, with Jumps galore and a great use of CGI. The nod to Alien was observed. The acting was great, the teachers individual characters came through and Director/Writer Jason M J Brown had the suspense from start to finish, with a little bit of X Files thrown in. And maybe a nod to Stranger Things too, the Director obviously loves his Gore and Make Up did a cracking job, he also has an admiration for other Horrors out there and especially the ones which in Space no one can hear you scream. Great fun. Great use of what was available with such a Low Budget. You should go and check it out for yourself. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely recommend to others. Look forward to seeing what else comes from this team of creatives.

    Low budget fun

Clearly made on a low budget, this horror film was fun to watch. The cast were great and they put a lot of energy into their roles. I was particularly impressed by the acting of Adam Probets as a schoolteacher, and Sophie and Alex Bullock as two of the main children at the school. The writer director Jason M J Brown works wonders to provide the shocks, the suspense and the gore associated with this kind of horror film with limited resources. It would be unfair to compare it with a Hollywood blockbuster which cost countless millions to make - enjoy it for what it is, an 'Alien' type film set in a school and made with more enthusiasm than money. It gets the thumbs up from me!

    Undercutting

The main characters are a handful of school staff including Rudy Ledbetter, drama teacher Emily Winters and the maintenance man. There are also a few students, such as Evie (Kitty Sudbery, The Evil Fairy Queen, Christmas with the Pups) and Alice to round out Creep Encounters' collection of potential aliens and/or victims.

Unfortunately, Creep Encounter's low budget does undercut it when it comes to the film's effects. While the alien spiders are passable, things like muzzle flashes and a possessed human getting their head blown off are pretty weak. The severed neck and spurts of animated blood are almost comical, and a good reminder of why using digital gore is almost never a good idea.
