FAQ

The Irishman

FAQ

Lots of SVOD titles get physical releases. Netflix has not physically released any of their original movies in the past. However, the Criterion Collection is now releasing Roma, making it more hopeful that this film eventually will also be released on home video. It's really up to Netflix how they make their money back with a ROI, they have a unique business model unlike typical movies. In January 2020, it was announced that the Criterion Collection will be releasing this film later in the year, along with three other Netflix titles (Marriage Story, American Factory, and Atlantics). The release date is set for 11/24/2020.

No, the dialogue does include some profanities, but not nearly as many as Goodfellas, Casino, or The Wolf of Wall Street. More of a throwback to earlier gangster films.

They're not connected so it's not necessary. However, everyone should probably watch Goodfellas at some point. Especially if they want to better understand Martin Scorsese and his connection with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.

But what you should watch, before or after, is "Once Upon a Time in America" by Sergio Leone. There is a strong connection with the character called "Jimmy", the Union's Leader.

No. Steven Van Zandt plays the part of Jerry Vale performing the songs "Spanish Eyes" and "Al Di La".

Compared to other Martin Scorsese films and gangster films in general, the Irishman is fairly tame. It is nowhere near as violent as Casino, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver or The Departed. That being said, there are scenes of graphic violence and murder that when they occur are depicted realistically and cold. Check the parents guide for specifics.
