Director Manu Ashokan wished to have certain equipment for the shoot but it looked impractical as most of it had to be rented from out of the state which meant the technicians had to travel and be in quarantine before 14 days of the shoot. He was afraid this would affect the cost of production and decided to drop his plan. But the producer T.R. Shamsudheen saw to it that the equipment and technicians that the director wished for were available throughout the shoot.
Before thinking about Kaanekkaane (2021) Scriptwriters Bobby & Sanjay and director Manu Ashokan were way into the discussion for another movie when COVID-19 struck. Their story demanded numerous characters and locations and they were forced to shelve it and think of another that would be practically possible to execute. Thus they came up with the plot of Kaanekkaane (2021) that had limited characters and locations.
