Adrien Brody in Wrecked (2010)

FAQ

Wrecked

FAQ

A man (Adrien Brody) awakens to find himself, along with two dead men, trapped in a wrecked car at the foot of a ravine with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Listening to the car radio, he learns that three men robbed a bank, killed a guard, and got away. When he finally frees his leg from under the dashboard and checks the trunk of the car, he finds several bags of money. Certain that he must be one of the bank robbers, the man attempts to crawl for help, fearing what will happen when he's found ...if he's ever found.

Wrecked is based on a screenplay written by Christopher Dodd.

Duke is a Belgian malinois (shepherd).

The man fishes out the wallet from the dead man in the back seat and learns that his name is George Weaver, one of the three robbers mentioned in the news broadcast. From an ID card he finds near him in the front seat, he discovers his name to be Raymond Plazzy, another of the three robbers. By elimination, the man lying outside of the car must be the third robber: Eric Stapleton.

He's simply a man in the woods who happened by, possibly because he saw evidence of a car crash and came down to take a look. He must have figured out that this was the bank robbers' car, which is why he stole the money and ran rather than help the man.

That is also the man in the woods who was apparently killed by the cougar and hauled into his cave. You can tell because they're both played by African-American actor Adrian Holmes.

Just as he reaches the road, the man looks back to see the cougar bounding up the hill. He quickly crawls across the road and hides near the bushes. He notices a leg sticking out of the bushes and crawls toward it, finding a third dead man. Rummaging through his pockets, he finds an ID that identifies the dead man as Raymond Plazzy. "If George Weaver and Eric Stapleton are dead near the car and Raymond Plazzy is dead on the road, who am I?", the man's face seems to ask. It all comes back to him. He was happily walking along the sidewalk after doing some shopping when he was accosted by three bank robbers who shoved him into a car and drove off. Suddenly, the cougar leaps onto the road and heads toward him. With no weapon to protect himself, the man shoves Plazzy's body towards the cougar. The cougar grabs the body in its teeth and runs off with it. When the danger has passed, he tries the cellphone again. This time he gets a signal. Within a short time, he is picked up by a park ranger. "My dog?", he asks the ranger, but the rangers says that there is no dog. As the ranger starts up the car, the man puts on his seatbelt, and another memory comes back to him. After putting on his seatbelt while riding in the car with the three bank robbers, he grabbed the driver's wheel causing the car to careen over the side of the ravine. In the final scene, the man sits silently in the car, staring ahead, a look of bewilderment on his face.

Viewers who have seen Wrecked have recommended 127 Hours (2010) (2010), in which a mountain climber in Utah attempts to survive after getting his arm trapped under a boulder. Similarly, in The Edge (1997) (1997), three men are stranded in the Alaskan wilderness and must work together to survive, a situation not made any easier when they find themselves being stalked by a huge Kodiak bear.
