- Samira, Joselyn and Leyla are ready to grab their slice of life after finishing school. But the summer that awaits, has little in common with their dreams of infinite freedom. As they struggle to keep going, their friendship is the only safeguard they have. A tale about solidarity against all odds.—MR
- Sami, Joe and Leyla have been inseparable since childhood and form a cheerful group of girls. Chatting and laughing, they wander through the outskirts of a large Swiss city and look out for each other when no one else does. The end of their school days together should have been the start of an exciting summer before they go their separate ways. But reality soon catches up with the lively teenagers. Sami suffers under her overly strict parents, who deny her any freedom due to their own war traumas. Joe has to sacrifice her dreams in order to support her single mother by looking after her younger siblings and taking on a money-making job. And Leyla nervously starts her apprenticeship in a canteen kitchen, where she encounters a harsh climate and little solidarity. While Leyla's apprenticeship hangs in the balance and Joe has to come to terms with a traumatic experience, they miss Sami going astray. In a time full of change, their friendship seems to be the only stable thing, but as events come thick and fast, it too is called into question.—SRF
