After the dull and quite frankly low performance of El Camino after Breaking Bad and The Many Saints of Newark after The Sopranos I was thinking that this might too turn up that way, but it is not. No, it's the other way around picking up many details that were left when season 8 of Dexter ended, and story as well as Performances by Hall and Carpenter are amazing. Jack Alcott is surprisingly good.
Following on from last week, 'New Blood' is offering a lot of the same.
More top-notch filmmaking, aesthetic shots that track through the snow-ridden landscape, inventive sequences during Dexter's hallucinations etc. However, this is where we see the plot beginning to shape up. Every season requires a few episodes like this before it can possibly build up to any sort of climax, and the second episode is a great place to begin this journey.
Again, we are treated to a lot of the elements from the original show, more Dexter trickery and deception, more quick-wit and humorous dialogue etc. The only criticism I have, bar the lack of anything extraordinary happening, is that I'm slightly tired of the overused trope of the "traumatised individual" being haunted by someone they lost. It makes sense in the world of the show and, to its credit, is shot wonderfully with sequences that are more creative than times when it has been done previously, however I think there are better ways to externalise Dexter's demons or his fears and anxieties.
I believe most viewers will have a reasonable bearing of where this season is going (I'm sensing certain similarities to a previous season of the show) however I'm certain I'll be very pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns we have come to expect from Dexter. And even if my own theories are true, it's fun to be back on the journey with our Dark Passenger. There's certainly a lot here to be desired by viewers who may never have seen the show before, however part of its appeal lies in how wonderful it is to see Dexter on our screens again. Looking forward to how the rest will unfold after a slow yet very promising episode.

Angela and harrison meet, angela has her own parenting issues , dexter is still a mystery after all these years . Harrison reveals hannah's fate. Debra foreshadowing dexter's fate . Everything is happening in this episode . Fantastic continuation . Cant wait for next week .
The second episode of the new season is as the previous episode nearly perfect.
Everthing comes together, new storylines and new questions how it will continue this season and especially how it all will end.
I can not wait to watch the next episode.
The old dexter vibes are back, i love it.

The relationship between Dexter and Harrison takes center stage here. I find it fascinating and I'm very curious to see where it goes. I also love the snowy small town setting of this season. It was great that they went in a different direction in terms of atmosphere to make it different than Miami.

- TriviaAccording to Nielsen Media Research, the episode was seen by an estimated 0.560 million household viewers and gained a 0.12 ratings share among adults aged 18/ 49.
- GoofsWhile driving the RTV with Harrison Dexter tries to mask or cover blood stains with his tires. But if the blood stains are still visible, the tracks he must have made while dragging the body to his cabin, obviously must also still be visible. Even if the RTV erased all the evidence, which is highly unlikely, at least Harrison must have been aware they were following a fresh trail , all the way from the cabin back to the dead deer.
Growing up in Argentina without a father figure to teach him North Woods bushcraft, Harrison may not even have noticed the trail. Even if he had, what was he going to do about it, since he has an aversion to cops "getting up in (his) stuff".
