Is this the slowest drama on television? Three episodes in and still no further forward than episode one. Joanne Froggatt is a good actress but it's too similar to Liar. Overall it's too dull for its own good.
A new drama from the Williams Brothers, writers of Liar, Baptiste and The Missing, is always worth a look.
In the opening episode the excellent Joanne Froggatt appears to have the perfect life as Angela Black, a Grand Designs pad, a charming husband and lovely kids, but plot twist - there's a dark secret..
Nice production values all round, but for me it was a bit too formulaic and the central relationship wasn't quite right. The main problem plot wise was the private investigator, he just didn't ring true, his confessional pitch to her and obsessive determination to help wasn't credible.
Not terrible, not great, an average potboiler.

After episode 3 things start to get more interesting. This is not as simple a story as it may seem. Not a brilliant show but interesting. Plus with Joanne Froggett in it it will always be watchable. Put yourself in her shoes - what would you think / do?
Don't get the appalling reviews on here. I quite enjoyed binging this. Solid acting and easy to watch . It's not a classic but give it a go . Just don't expect to be wowed!
Angela Black is a suspenseful six part series from ITV, it doesn't follow any of the conventional rules, it seems to take you in a particular direction, but has a habit in moving you somewhere else.
Its very dramatic, and full of twists and turns, it shows the darker side of human nature, and how cruel one person can be.
You'll have to wait until the last episode to learn what's happening, it may just surprise you, I urge you to stick with it, as the ending is very satisfying.
The question you'll be asking throughout, will she be believed?
Terrific acting, Froggat and Huisman are both fantastic, he is chilling in parts, a very sincere villain. A very good supporting cast here also.
8/10.
