One night. Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin) an arrogant advertising account is abducted and Joe finds himself being held captive in a prison cell with a television set. On television, Joe is horrified to learn he has been framed for his estranged wife's murder and that his 3 year old daughter Mia has been adopted. 20 years later, Joe wakes up and finds his captors have released him. Joe sets out to find those who held him captive for 20 years and framed him for his estranged wife's murder and get answers and punish them for their wrongdoings. Joined by a young paramedic named Marie Sebastian (Elizabeth Olsen) Joe sets out to get his revenge. Torturing and eliminating those responsible, Joe soon learns the man whom had him abducted, imprisoned and framed for murder is Adrian Doyle Pryce (Sharlto Copley) aka The Stranger whom Joe went to school with and Adrian calls Joe and tells him that he's kidnapped Mia and demands Joe pays him $20 million in diamonds and he will release Mia and get evidence that will clear Joe's name and after Adrian's men attack Marie, Joe comes face to face with Adrian and Joe learns the terrible truth about why Adrian wronged him.
