House of Bones (2010)

FAQ

House of Bones

Five investigators from the popular ghost-hunting TV show 'Sinister Sites' -- lead investigator/producer Tom Rule (Ricky Wayne), co-investigator Greg Williams (Marcus Lyle Brown), tech manager/cinematographer Simon McAllister (Collin Galyean), production assistant Bub (Kyle Clements), and newly-hired psychic Heather Burton (Charisma Carpenter) -- spend the night filming in the supposedly haunted Wicker House. Used to their investigations being merely 'smoke and mirrors', the team becomes truly terrified when it looks like Wicker House may be the real thing.

House of Bones is based on a screenplay by American screenwriters Anthony C. Ferrante and Jay Frasco.

It seems to have begun in the 1760s when owner Desmond Delacroix, who was obsessed with eternal life, passed away after 37 years of living in the house. The story goes that he practiced witchcraft and, in order to build up the house's psychic capacity, made his slaves bury their dead in the foundation and walls of the house. The evil then passed to the next owners an okra farmer, a toolmaker, a preacher, a violinist, and a judge with a taste for botany until the last caretaker died in 1941. After that, there was no more violence until1951 when a young boy disappeared while trying to retrieve his baseball from the yard.

The investigating team had begun to realize that the house itself was alive and needed to be fed. They reasoned that, if they could 'kill' the house, they would be released. Consequently, they tried to poison the realtor's body with ammonia (and possibly some other types of household poisons) and poured the excess down into well.

Simon and Heather dump Sara's body into the well, and the house begins to repair itself. When they pour the rest of the ammonia into the well, however, the repairs reverse and the pipes begin to bleed. Instead, a demon grabs Simon, pulls him into the well, and begins to climb out, causing Heather to scream. Back in the house, Greg has successfully released Bub from the house's foundation. When he hears Heather's scream, he runs out and releases her from the well-house. He orders her to go to the van while he goes back into the house for Tom and Bub. While making her way through the yard, Heather is stabbed by Tom. Bub manages to crawl out of the house, but Tom strangles him. Greg comes out of the house, confused by Tom's behavior and tells him to snap out it. Greg tries to leave through the front gate, but Tom throws an axe into his back. 'You know, Greg,' he says, 'sometimes the greatest foundation for change is to stay right where you are.' In the final scene, Tom shows the house to a young couple, potential buyers. His photo can be seen hanging alongside all the previous caretakers.
