The apartments used in the scene where Steinberg is beaten up by his landlord (Jackie Clarke) are located directly across the street from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where cast members Jake Fogelnest, Jackie Clarke, Julie Klausner and Brett Davis have all performed live.
MC Steinberg originated as a character on The Best Show on WFMU with Tom Scharpling, on New Jersey freeform radio station WFMU, where he is best known for a rap battle with indie rock musician Ted Leo.
MC Steinberg was also a frequent guest on The Jake and Jackie Show, which was on both KRock and FreeFM, two commercial radio stations in New York. The show was hosted by Steinjive cast members Jake Fogelnest and Jackie Clarke.
