Always passionate, an eternal helpless romantic and enthusiastic about life and music, Tim Maia was one of the greatest songwriters/musicians of
all time and one soul that we'll always miss ever since his sudden death in 1998. I still have vivid memories of that day, specially the images of his
final concert when he was starting to feel ill to the point he couldn't finish his performance and that was the first song of the evening. And my
appreciation of his talents only grew over the years. Most recently I discovered this small forgotten gem that presents small fragments of the man, the
artist and his views on music and the world in general. It was amazingly brilliantly though it may look disjointed and quite random to the usual viewer
out there.
Maia was hilarious all the way while sharing his thoughts about music (for those who don't know him his range goes from funk, R&B and soul to
power ballads, countless romantic songs and covers from other artists), the importance it has in his life and also some unusual internal views from
the world around him - like he mentions that he believes in little creatures that live under our feet (it was a huge funny moment that I couldn't stop
laughing not just because of the thought but the humored in which he tells his "story"). And there's also moments where he talks about the loves of his
life.
Not sure exactly this was made but I liked it. The only possible reasoning for it was because he was about to release a new album and here we
get some glimpses of Maia rehearsing the then upcoming single "Telefone" which was a minor hit - don't know the name of the album. Here we have an
intimate view of the man while presenting his house or driving his car around Rio's beautiful landscape beautifully photographed by the camera. It's a
very artistic presentation about one of the greatest Brazilian arists who ever lived. His fans will love this and they definitely need to know about it
with urgency since they're missing out a lot of stuff about him. 9/10.
