Bed of Nails

I didn't have high hopes for the story of this film, but I at least thought it would be entertaining to watch. It failed at even the freebie, which is the sex and and nudity. It even got to the point where it sabotaged itself by censoring the one (clearly)explicit scene, which is a trend that needs to end. If you don't want to show it, don't film it. Like I said the sex and nudity is the freebie entertaining part of these types of films and it couldn't even get that right. Every time you think you found a creator that won't unnecessarily hold back in this department, once again you get disappointed. The rest is your typical low budget horror film sludge, which also failed to entertain.

Let me just get this right out of the way immediately. Bed Of Nails is not a good film in the slightest. The thing that's entertaining about this film is not necessarily that it's so bad it's good but that it's so unnecessarily bizarre.

I say unnecessarily because this movie starts out like many slasher movies with teens going to camp out in woods(these teens being a group of goth's). Then it turns into a more vicious than expected Spit On Grave type of movie when Bobby Lee shows up with his gang country Trump lovin yokels(not trying to make this political but they actually had Trump shirts). Then randomly it turns into some supernatural revenge movie.

This movie is tonally all over the place and doesn't exactly do any of it well. But there's a certain charm to this even as badly as it's made. And boy is it made bad. The editing is atrocious! No scene seems to flow from one another giving it a jarring feeling. The acting is terrible! And kills are not anything special either. Plus there's nude scene where they randomly censor some girls butthole for some random reason. All this adds to the weirdness of this movie. But in the end the hillbillies are fun, there's plenty of hotties showing the goods(sans butthole), Bobby Lee's name is said a million times and I never got sick of hearing it and the movie is uniquely bizarre. It's fun enough for one spin atleast.

I really enjoyed this film. Absolutely without question a twisted and bizarre film and haven't seen anything like this since I Spit on your Grave. It's an independent low budget film so there were a couple of bouncy cuts and edits, but nothing that took away from the overall storyline and intensity of the film. The incorporation of music is really on target with this film without a doubt and the filmmaker has actually done something new and unique with their use of the soundtrack. It pretty much pulled my attention from beginning to end nonstop. It was actually very unpredictable which I really liked, very dark and very savage in a couple particular scenes.
