A brilliant conclusion to a subplot

I can see how the first few episodes of this season could feel a bit over-the-top. I am glad they wrapped up that particular thread in this episode. It allowed them to address a contemporary issue in this season without it becoming the theme of the whole season.

The acting was excellent, as usual.

    Best episode of the series

I can see what they were trying to do this season but not quite executing. The result was some dialogue and scenarios that just weren't consistent with the characters.

However this was a shining example of what it looks like done right. Same message, much better execution.

Great performances, a true tug of war morality tale at the heart of it. Hopefully this is the writers adjusting to the new paradigm. I am optimistic for the future of this show.

    The Bombs and the Spanking

After passing the disciplinary exam, Nolan is assigned by Sgt. Grey to work at the front desk. He leaves his position to help to capture a woman freegan and stumbles upon a van parked in a forbidden area of the station. However, the van has several bombs and Nolan is held hostage by an armed man and handcuffed near the bombs. The man that has terminal cancer activates a dead man's switch and requests that a dangerous prisoner is released; otherwise, he will blow-up the police station. Meanwhile, Stanton delivers a blue page to West's file since he left the evidence unprotected. Grey advises West that he will replace his T. O., but he requests to continue with Stanton and has a serious problem in a dangerous black community.

"Lockdown" is an episode of "The Rookie" with two engaging storylines. Nolan and the guy with the bombs has a poor motive causing frustration in the end. The segment of West and Stanton is excellent. My vote is eight.

    WOW! Amazing writing!

Wow the writers nailed this one! The entire story and sub plots are edge of your seat suspense. This episode could've been a full length feature Hollywood blockbuster! Not sure why there are so many haters and wannabe critics against this show. Clearly someone didn't make the cut for this show lol. A SOLID well deserving and honest 10/10 (click my username for my 1000+ reviews to see I'm a real reviewer) Y'all will see why I've rated this so high once you've seen it and the tears start flowing! The writers have a lot of work ahead of them to top this writing!

Stanton said when the camera goes back on, the recording goes back two minutes. According to the Axon Body Camera manual, the feature is known as pre-event buffering , which can be configurable in 30 second increments for up to 120 seconds (two minutes). When enabled, video from the selected amount of time prior to the user starting a camera recording is included in the final video.
    • Goofs
In the beginning of the episode Doug calls Jackson a "millenial". This describes people born between 1981 and 1995. Since this episode is set in 2021 and we later learn that Jackson is 24, which means he was born in 1997, Jackson is actually "Gen-Z".
