Why ABC Canceled Gina Rodriguez's Not Dead Yet
Image
Television shows, especially comedies, centred around Latino characters have certainly been on the rise in recent years — "This Fool" and "Primo" are just two of the many that I instantly fell in love with — but for some reason, most of them seem to have a brief shelf life. Frankly, it's kind of a miracle that the Gina Rodriguez-led comedy-drama on CW, "Jane the Virgin," managed to remain on air for five years between 2014 and 2019. However, the actress's more recent sitcom, "Not Dead Yet," on ABC wasn't as lucky.

Despite the mixed reviews from critics, the show's ratings were pretty great during the debut season, making it the most-watched comedy on the channel in 2023. Rodriguez's character, Nell Serrano, a broke and newly single journalist, must have resonated with viewers as she was trying to build a new life on the ruins of her old one. After a 10-year break,...

Eugenio Derbez Says ‘LA Is Like a Ghost Town’ on Weekends Thanks to Mass Deportations
Image
With Ice raids continuing in various cities across the country, “Acapulco” star Eugenio Derbez said on Friday morning that Los Angeles has been severely affected by mass deportations, turning into “a ghost town” on weekends.

Derbez stopped by the “The View” in support of the newest, and final season of his Apple TV+ show, and while talking with the hosts, he lamented how Latinos have been “targeted” in the U.S. Host Ana Navarro was quick to point out that Derbez is an L.A. resident himself, and wondered how the Ice raids have impacted him.

“It’s heartbreaking to see the kids crying when they see they’re taking away their mom, or their dad. I just can’t stand it. It’s heartbreaking,” he said.

When Navarro added that young kids are now stepping into the actual jobs of their parents, such as vending street food, Derbez readily agreed,...

Apple TV+ Shows Getting Cancelled in 2025: From Acapulco to Time Bandits
Image
The streaming platform Apple TV+ has had a slow start compared to other streaming giants, but the studios have managed to deliver some of the best shows online. Whether it’s Jason Sudeikis’s Ted Lasso, Adam Scott’s Severance, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s The Morning Show, or more. 'Suits LA's Rotten Tomatoes Score Rebounds After Gabriel Macht's Return to the Franchise
Image
Suits LA has sincerely struggled since its debut back in late February 2025, with the show earning poor critical and audience reception and simply quivering under the impressive shadow of the original Suits series. However, with just a handful of episodes in the first season left, the spinoff is proving quite the underdog, turning around audience opinion with many now fully immersed in the heady heights of entertainment law in LA.

At the halfway point of the season, Suits LA's audience rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes had plummeted even lower than its debut rating with 39%, shockingly, 48% lower than the original series' comparative figure. Despite original Suits creator Aaron Korsh back at the helm and big stars such as Stephen Amell and Maggie Grace involved, there seemed to be no way back for the spinoff. That's where fan-favorite Gabriel Macht steps in, with the original series star appearing in Episode 4, "Batman Returns,...

Ted and Harvey Have a Major Clash in New 'Suits LA' Sneak Peek
Image
The first season of Suits LA has offered some bright sparks since the show premiered, the biggest being the return of Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) in Episode 4, "Batman Returns." Macht, who starred in the original 2011 drama, Suits, has been one of the spinoff's greatest weapons as it seeks to establish itself. Harvey returns to Suits LA this coming Sunday in the episode titled, "Acapulco." While Macht's Harvey was the golden child in the original drama, that role is occupied by Stephen Amell's Ted Black, with the show confirming the pair were friends back in New York. Ahead of Harvey's return, a newly released clip captures an exchange between the pair which is not exactly friendly.

The clip comes courtesy of Suits LA's now trademark flashbacks to New York 2010. Harvey meets up with Ted at the bar after the Da prosecutor hits a "speed bump," as Harvey describes it,...

“Suit Up”: Harvey Specter Is Back on ‘Suits LA’ in Teaser for a Two-Episode Event
Image
Much of the cred associated with the Aaron Korsh 2011 legal dramedy, Suits, can be attributed to the performance of Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter. After a resurgence of the original series on Netflix in recent years, Korsh returns for another rodeo, this time moving the franchise to California with Suits LA. Stephen Amell leads the show as Ted Black, an iteration of Macht's Harvey, and while the show's ratings seem to be lagging, there is some potential there. Macht has already made an appearance in Suits LASeason 1, Episode 4, "Batman Returns." His appearance schedule for Season 1 is a three-episode arc that resumes with next Sunday's episode, titled "Acapulco."

Ahead of the episode's premiere, a new clip has been released to herald Harvey's return, and it teases a "2-week Suits event," which involves "doing some bad things." A conversation kicks off the clip: "Suit up. Winners don't greet the day in sweatpants,...

The Great Harvey Specter Returns Once More in 'Suits LA' Episode 8 Sneak Peek
Image
After securing a narrow victory in Lester's (Kevin Weisman) case in Suits LA Season 1, Episode 6, "Dester," it was sad to see Ted's (Stephen Amell) victory lap cut short by news of his client, John Amos's death. Played by the Roots actor himself, Ted and his former protégé, Rick (Bryan Greenberg), get together for some memorial drinks in his honor, but soon enough, it's time to get back to the next chain of events. A new episode airs next Sunday on NBC. In Suits LA Season 1, Episode 8, "Acapulco," we celebrate the return of original Suits star, Gabriel Macht, who returns to play Harvey Specter, as he helps out his old friend, Ted.

The official logline for "Acapulco" reads:

Lionsgate Television Lays Off 6% of Workforce
Image
Lionsgate Television has undergone another round of layoffs, with five people in the scripted TV group let go on Thursday, Variety has confirmed. That represents 6% of the company’s 80-person staff.

The belt-tightening comes a few months after layoffs on the unscripted side, as 5% of Lionsgate Alternative Television staffers were shown the door in November. The layoffs come amid a constricting marketplace that has put independent studios like Lionsgate in a tough spot.

Lionsgate Television’s catalog includes the “Power” franchise and the crime drama “Bmf,” both of which are on Starz. The studio also produces CBS’ popular sitcom “Ghosts,” Apple TV+’s “Acapulco” and Seth Rogen’s upcoming showbiz satire “The Studio.” After Lionsgate acquired the global studio eOne, it inherited Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” and “The Recruit,” which was just canceled after two seasons at Netflix.

The layoffs come just ahead of Lionsgate’s impending split from Starz, which...
