Then, why do they call it 'Chinatown'?

...That line, the best of this episode, courtesy of Charlie Bluhdorn (Burn Gorman) in reference to the next film Bob Evans (Matthew Goode) intends to make.

Speaking of Matthew Goode, I thought this was his best episode, which is saying something, because he has led this strong cast from the outset. It was also Miles Teller's (Al Ruddy) best effort. Juno Temple also shone.

As I wrote last week, things that I had always read as credited to Coppola, or others, herein are credited to Ruddy. In this episode, I already knew that Gianni Russo (Carlo, who marries Connie in the original) was very much disliked, but he had some sort of juice and no one knew from where it came. It's not revealed herein either. So, anyway, I had always read and heard that it was James Caan's idea to actually throw him a beating in the scene wherein Sonny throws Carlo a beating in the street. But, we learn that this was a joint idea between Ruddy and Coppola. Great scene.

    #Meetoo agenda episode.

Hope the producers issue an apology to actor they alluded to hitting Talia Shire while making The Godfather How about keeping modern dsy social issues out of a show about the making of a 1972 film about gangsters.

    Ruined a perfectly good episode.

    Filler episode

Easily the lowest rated episode of this miniseries so far... feels like filler. Fight scenes are needless and tiresome in a show of this caliber:

That said, this show is outstanding and Miles Teller in particular keeps me eager for each new episode.

    • Trivia
Brando orders equal parts Disaronno and scotch at the bar. The Godfather is a duo mixed drink made of Scotch whisky (especially smoky Scotch) and amaretto. Typically, the drink is served with ice in an old fashioned glass. The amaretto brand Disaronno claims the drink was the favorite cocktail of American actor Marlon Brando.
    • Goofs
The episode has The Godfather still being filmed and Joe Gallo being assassinated in retaliation for his arranged assassination attempt on Joe Columbo. This takes considerable liberties with the timeline as The Godfather was released in theaters on March 24, 1972 and Joe Gallo was assassinated on his birthday April 7, 1972.
