Christmas with the Chosen

This is not a movie. It's a Christmas special. The first 1:10 minutes are literally Christian artists singing - they are all amazing absolutely, but if you're not prepared to watch music videos for an hour straight this will be hard for you to sit through. The episode itself was honestly hard to watch as my entire family was ready to leave, we could not get all of the music out of our heads. This did not do justice at all to how epic the TV show is.

Excellent music! If you open your heart and really pay attention to what the words mean, it will bring you to tears. The monologs bring so much TRUTH. A great time to listen to our disobedience and God's Grace over and over as we are now in times of great disobedience.

Besides the musical performances, and monologs, they also showed the Pilot Episode for The Chosen called The Shepard. This episode shows you the birth of Christ though the eyes of a Shepherd. If you don't already know, shepherds slept outside and were dirty so they were seen as very low. When you think about that while watching these episode, it puts so much meaning and emotion to what you are seeing on screen. I highly recommend this Christmas Special as well as the 2021 Christmas Special titled The Messengers. That this theater presentation is boring as hell. Admittedly I was asked to attend this "movie" and didn't know what I was getting into. Be warned the run time is 2 hours with an hour and 17 minutes of that being a bad music video. I guess I see the appeal if you want to see artists lip-syncing and pretending to play instruments that are not plugged in, followed by a 25 minute episode that shows very little of the birth of Jesus. For me however it was 2 hours I'll never get back.

I love the Chosen series. I was looking forward to seeing a new episode on the big screen. Instead I saw a thrown together 30 or so minute clip of bad acting, poorly written dialogue, surrounded in insincere testimony of actors reading off a prompter. It is unfortunate that those who have not seen the series will likely steer away from it after seeing this. I felt as if it was a cash grab. They could have made one of their best episodes surrounding the birth, and really dropped the ball. No one is as saddened by this, as I.
