Quarantined to their Berlin apartment with moderate cases of Covid-19, filmmakers Christine Daum-Farber and Nelson Farber turn the camera on themselves for their creative documentary Inside Out/Outside In. Humor, music and play are employed as story-telling elements to create a duality between the serious topic of illness on the one hand, and the joy of life on the other. The narrative arc takes us on their journey through diagnosis, questioning of how they caught the virus, coping with this new and freaky sickness, false recovery and relapse, and ultimately, recovery. Meanwhile, as a visual leitmotif, the lens mediates the barriers between the "inside world" of the apartment and the outside one of the backyard and balcony. Ultimately, Inside Out/Outside In is a love story of how two extremely close people, who are opposites in many ways, go through the experience being sick together on the inside, in the midst of a unique historical moment occurring on the outside.
