Weird, and not in a good way

I'm not sure what this waste of time is supposed to be but I do know what feeling it will induce in you: vertigo. The music is grating, too. Garbage.

    Artistic, sensory and experimental work

Drunkenness is above all an experimental film. It must be viewed in good conditions. This is not a traditional film with a very precise narrative process. On the contrary, the director broke conventional cinematographic codes and created a unique film by focusing on the formal aspect. First of all, the circular format of the image seems to represent the eye of the main character, Dario. Then, the subjective shots, present throughout the entire film, is the key to the film! The spectator is immersed in this tortured character (it is quite normal not to get attached to him) who asks himself a lot of existential questions. The camera is in total agreement with his disordered and unstable state of mind. This is what makes the charm of this film. The aspect of drunkenness takes shape progressively with us, spectator. We are shaken, disturbed. It works with simplicity. The addition of a strobe effect accentuates this unreal and fiery side. The soundtrack is perfectly implemented with the images. It's psychedelic, electrifying and chaotic. It quickly brings us to another dimension. Just like the character's voiceover, which adds something morbid. It is a character in suffering who calls for help.

Also, the last part of the film takes us to another universe. We are immersed in a sort of dream, of hallucination.

The emotion is very present. The film is at the same time disturbing, dark, sensory and melancholic at different times : in particular with the character of Bianca who adds a certain lightness and sensuality.

The film raises several themes, in particular that of art and the artist : The character of Ramirez is an accomplished musician, pianist. Dario is deeply jealous of him and that's what creates this tension. He would have liked to be who he never will be.

Drunkenness is above all a hypnotic film. It's a kind of strange journey between dream and reality, rocked by the psychological madness of the main character, pessimistic and addicted to alcohol.

This experimental work is out of the ordinary, far from all current cinematographic stereotypes, it is a great artistic success!
