The opening restaurant scene is a real restaurant in Sioux City, IA named Da-Kao. The rest of the movie was filmed around the University of Iowa campus.

The bow and arrow effect was done by Patrick Bottaro, who shoots the arrow in the scene. It was done with After Effects.
Zach Schladetzky was originally intended to have a large role. But he left on the day of filming to attend the annual Veisha concert at Iowa State. The role was substantially reduced, and it is said he will never act again.
