Irish Catholic

This is a film for the cult audience crowd, I've never seen a movie like it, I am not sure if there is a genre, but that's what I like about it.

Shavon is a scapegoat in her family, her sisters, and Mother bond by lashing out at her. Longing for some a community she joins a group of crusty punks, who turn out to have the same group behaviors as her Catholic family. If you have ever been a crusty punk, there are many inside jokes, and even the cardboard inserts and opening titles fit the crusty punk aesthetic.

The music doesn't have one certain sound, it changes with the characters. In most musicals of this modern era, all sound production is the same. The music in this film changes with the characters and settings. The crusty punk songs sound like a group of crusty punks begging for money on the sidewalk for beer.

The catholic music sounds so Catholic. And then the Sinead scenes sound so beautiful soothing and calming.

It may offend some people, but that's a risk movies need to take these days, watch it if you are not too fragile and like a challenge.

I first experienced IRISH CATHOLIC at the Louisville International Film Festival, where there were technical difficulties, resulting on only the first fifteen minutes of the film being shown. I watched the rest of it at home.

Having no experience with being Catholic, some of the nuance, feeling, and things most Catholics would know right away were lost to me.

The film is a head trip with a lot of wild non-sequitors. A marriage of FORBIDDEN ZONE, MARAT SADE, and THE OFFICE might come close to describing it. I enjoyed the film, but I could see it baffling and maybe triggering a lot of viewers, especially since there's a forewarning that you need to be prepared to be offended. I wasn't, as I not easily offended, especially concerning religion.

I heartily recommend checking this out, instead of the same old INDIANA JONES 5-type crap that proliferates every cinemaplex across America these days.
