Follow-Up to Season 1 Japanese Drama Contract Marriage

Called "Full Time Wife Escapist" SEASON 2 on Netflix, this is the followup movie - kind of a catch-up and final chapter of the story of the cute and innocent love story about a real geeky guy, and a girl who has a master's degree but can't find employment other than a housewife that has been contracted for house chores. Season 1 concentrates on them meeting, getting a contract marriage and falling in love. If you haven't watched that first it would be best to watch that and come back to the movie. This movie is the final chapter which concentrates on their baby that they have and how they deal with splitting up the chores, keep their love alive and having a baby during the COVID crisis. Always a little bit of humor in these Japanese Dramas and a welcome final ending to a story.

Catching up with Mikuri and Hiramasa

This movie is a follow-up to the series. It actually stands alone fairly well but you'll get more out of it if you watch the series it's based on first. Mikuri and Hiramasa, an eccentric married couple, are expecting their first child and the movie explores all the difficulties that accompany such an event.

First of all, I was disappointed that the relationship between Yuri and Kazama (Mikuri's aunt and Hiramasa's co-worker) was not explored further. They were an interesting pair but in the movie Kazama is barely there and Yuri's storyline is an odd divergence. But in the end, it's the Mikuri and Hiramasa show and that plotline (which ends up being somewhat episodic in nature) is very satisfying. They're a cute couple and the comedy and drama of adjusting to your first child is well-balanced and entertaining.

"It's shameful to run-away.. but sometimes it's helpful"

A decent follow-up to the drama.. but loses some of it's more comedic and romantic approach to story-telling.

It covers the effects of the Pandemic on their developing relationship and parenthood. Definitely more serious than expected, but it does maintain that tone of sharing a different perspective in an educational and interesting manner.. as well as seeing a different side of these characters. If you liked the series, I would consider this as the epilogue. Whether it is worth watching or not, is another conversation. I enjoyed it nonetheless, but could be skipped if not interested.
